My name is Tomo Helman and I am an investor from Croatia. I own a Web site MojeDionice.com (available only in Croatian language so far) which is Croatia's most popular site for small investors - providing powerful stock screener, latest fundamentals etc. I started investing on the Croatian and East European markets, but few strong companies and low trading volumes forced me to look to other markets as well, especially the U.S. market. My investing style is rather conservative - I look for strong companies with growth and as low key ratios (P/E, P/S...) as possible. I hold such stocks (usually for several years) until they reach my target price. Although my buy and hold strategy is very good and I use it with the significant part of my portfolio - I wanted also to use another strategy which will be more mechanical. I looked through books and the Web for time-tested strategies that work on the Wall Street but require little effort. The result of my research is my Dogs of the Season investing strategy which combines two strategies that I found the most useful for my purpose. I use DOTS to generate an extra income and to increase my portfolio at the estimated annual rate of 15-20%.
