Most other MP3 players will play generic MP3 files and you can replace the battery for about $20 without sending it into the manufacturer. Now it appears that if they work hard they may get back to a 5% share of market. But it looks like they are more interested in becoming a consumer electronics supplier - forget about the computers, they are only a link to the web.

The reason that Jobs has not been singled out is "arrogance" this is an embedded Jobs characteristic and a trait of the entire Apple organization from the beginning. What other PC company went from 100% SOM to nearly zero and now back to 4-5%. Jobs has clearly shown genius in product definition and marketing but this does not excuse the arrogance of illegally backdating stock options. His life long affair with arrogance may bring him down this time.
