Verizon’s FiOS Fiber-Optic Network: Payback Time?

I would love to have an alternative to the Cox rape and pillage scenario. Can't even get a DSL line from Qwest. I happen to believe that Cox put in a remote switch (that precludes DSL service) and cut a deal with the developer by underwriting some of the infrastructure costs. Maybe UWB Wifi will eventually bring relief from the $45. per month that Cox charges.
