Failed US launch? That's news to me, what we do know is AT&T did not promote Z10, Verizon was a lot better, T-Mobile has been selling to enterprise for two weeks and over 4000 US enterprise have have signed up for the BES10 program. Sounds like a very good start, not sure what you or some others are expecting, turning around BlackBerry is not going to happen overnight nor will it happen in a week or month. BlackBerry has a plan and they are executing, the naysayers said they would burn through cash, BB10 was vapourware or BB10 was two little too late, all prognostications were wrong. Open your eyes, take your iGlasses off, BlackBerry is back and they are stronger today than a year ago.
Now is a strange time to short BlackBerry since Q10 and BES10 are launching in April/May respectively and Z10 was just launched in the US. Q1 will BlackBerry's largest revenue in some time.
With regards to your applications problem, there is no denying some apps are missing but you also aren't factoring those than are coming. In Canada alone RBC, CIBC and TD have confirmed they are working on a native BB10 app.

There are many of you, Apple is a great company my only reservation is whether they can sustain their growth. I think the market overvalued AAPL at $700+ at least as quickly as they did, it may get there again but it will take some time, competition is fierce.

They are both gambles, ask Apple shareholders who bought last September. BlackBerry has the greatest upside but also the highest risk. I actually like both, apple's multiple is low so I see it return back to $550 and BlackBerry once they show revenue growth and sustained earnings then you're looking at $50+.
