  • Intel's Bay Trail Arrives And Finally Proves ARM Wrong [View article]
Benchmark made by intel doesn't carry any value.
Intel has failed to build an x86 ecosystem, with valuable concurrents.

The only important smartphone win by Intel is the Lenovo k900 and Intel has given Lenovo a bunch of money for the marketing. This smartphone is not selling well.

  • It's Peak Oil For U.S. As China Takes Greater Share [View article]
i pretty sur Xiamen people have much less cas than New Yorkers (excepts if you only count manhattan).
I think that car ownership in beijing is sligthly less than 20% and in New York is close to 50% see 1.
In the big city, few people use their car to commute to work, they only use it time to time during the week end.
In my Neighbourhood their is many many car but few roads, road require lands and lands cost are extremly high there.

  • Are Nokia's Smartphones Really Doing That Well In Emerging Markets? [View article]
I see more nokia lumia in the beijing subway recently (see difference the last 2-3 month). May be because microsoft has a big developement center in beijing.
Don't forget what Nokia was few years ago (40% of market share in china). They will never come back to such level.

Microsoft problem is that very few companies want to make Windows 8 smartphone.

Chinese (or Indian see micromax) companies that make cheap but good smartphones are clearly increasing their market share.
Today easy and unexpensive to make a good smartphone, smartphone are becoming commodities.

Smartphone screen size is much more important there than in the US. Nokia need a larger and thinner phone (whith smaller bezel).

  • Nokia Results: The Good, The Bad And The Ugly [View article]
"I thought Nokia's deal with China Mobile was going to add greatly to the company's presence in the Chinese smart phone market and we might not be seeing this."
In China, deals with carrier are not important at all.
Very few Nokia (or wp8) in beijing metro.
Even if wp8 is a great and innovating product, people like me are tired of microsoft monopoly (and chinese leaders must agree with that).
A price of 37$ per smartphone is unacceptable, for nokia, htc and the consumer.
NOK is doom in china for the years to come. In 2007, nokia had 70% market share, everyone wanted a nokia phone.

-don't see too much iphone 5, at least less than Note II and xiaomi 2
-bigger screen seems to be the trend, see Huawei Mate.
-very few people buy their phone with their operator.
