  • Hecla Mining: What You Need To Know [View article]
Thanks for the summary, Chris. I agree, no need to rush raising a position as Wall Street keeps punishing these low cap miners. $2/share is my target for HL these days. BTW, at better than a mile underground the Lucky Friday is prone to having issues. It's just part of the risk involved in this space.

Hey, someone pass the mustard for this crap sandwich... I hear you Han. He is right about one thing, premiums on junk silver especially are ridiculous right now.

  • Resource Sector Digest: Gold Is Gaining Ground After The Fed's Decision [View article]
HL, as the number three zinc producer in the U. S. continues to flounder, along with the rest of the miners. This article is not the first I've seen lately mentioning the zinc market potential.

I continue to bet that it's worst days are behind it and will start to show some measurable results. The wait continues.

  • The 'Big Long' Gets Bigger As Goldman And HSBC Gobble Up Tons More Gold [View article]

An interesting article to be sure. One has to wonder "why?" they are acquiring bullion if it's so useless, or at least so I'm told so often lately.

    Thank you for the effort.

  • Hecla Mining: Stay Invested Despite Expected Weakness In Q2 Earnings [View article]
Ted, do you have any information on the specs for the HI solar system? I see different comments on solar panel silver content. I haven't seen anything that suggests the solar industry consumes that high of a percentage of silver production.

I tend to take the opposite perspective on silver and where you live. I live in the US and the strong dollar is making my dollars go further in acquiring bullion, lower fuel costs, etc.

  • Hecla Mining: Stay Invested Despite Expected Weakness In Q2 Earnings [View article]
I continue to buy on weakness, but, taking the above comment into consideration, it is a leap of faith that both PM prices and management execution improve. It could be a long wait, but HL has managed to stay afloat under much worse circumstances than todays.

  • Former Gold Bulls Becoming Bears: Does That Mean Gold Has Reached A Bottom? [View article]
I don't really care what the Wall Street pundits predict. Much like believing politicians promises.

What I do base a contrarian position on is the public. You can be sure they(we) will get on the bus just before it breaks down.

Back in 2011 or so I saw a public opinion poll on "the best investments" and gold ranked 40%. You knew that was going to end badly and I sold, sold, sold - silver.

The latest thing I can find is dated 2013 and at that time the public said real estate was the best going forward. My, how things change.

I have enjoyed the articles you highlight Hebba. A hit piece per day on Marketwatch it seems.

In the immortal words of Bill Murray in Meatballs "it just doesn't matter".

For all of your great arguments against diamonds as an "investment" the above applies in her case. And in her defense, she is not alone. The same could be said for many men and vehicles. I always smile when I see Dodge trucks with the "Big Horn" logo on them.

Good investment advise, but for many years I've been unable to enlighten my Wife to this truth. The linked story was great reading. I refused to "upgrade" her ring, so she paid for it herself and it came with a little paper certificate "guaranteeing" it's value. She showed it to me in order to justify her "investment". Such is life.

  • The FOMC Decision - Studying The Flight Of Birds And Gold [View article]
But, it one draws a flock of birds with seed on the cobble stones, places bets on the prediction that the birds will at once take flight, then claps their hands to get the desired effect, success; even if the birds just circle the square and return. In fact, this is the most desirable outcome.

  • Why I'm Starting To Get Bullish On Hecla Mining [View article]
Industrial consumption has not exceeded mine supply.

Silver Institute figures show mine supply 877 million oz, industrial fabrication 594 million, scrap supply brings total available to just at 1 billion oz.

All those bars and rounds sold are still around.

Nor can silver in reality. There are hundreds of millions of ounces in sock drawers, safes and coffee cans in America alone that will come out when the price is right.

  • Why I'm Starting To Get Bullish On Hecla Mining [View article]
I increased my position at the sub $3 price this morning as I agree in general that HL has good potential. One element of the article that jumps out is the "low risk" aspect. Mining is always risky, and the Lucky Friday is going over a mile under ground. Bad things can happen at those depths, so it's best not to be complacent. At $3 I will take the chance, but not betting the farm on it.

They only get there and stay there because they get(buy) the votes. Who's fault is that? I'm tired of complaints about the Congress. It's like the weather, everyone complains about it, but no-one does anything about it. We have the best government money can buy. Get used to it.
