  • G20 commits to grow economy; Russia isolated over Ukraine [View news story]
It doesn't make me laugh. Desperate men do desperate things. It makes me nervous to see Putin backed into too tight a corner, whether brought it upon himself or not.

  • Are You Preparing For $10,000 Gold? [View article]
Avi, it's official - you've done lost it! LOL. Seriously though, I did laugh out loud when I heard the gold advertisements at $300. The opening to this article is EXACTLY right. So that means?????? Thanks for an interesting piece.

Well, I had to re-think holding PAAS as many here advised, or any miner in this market and unloaded them yesterday morning. Will wait for the $1,050 range in gold and re-evaluate. A GSR of 80 is likely to get hit, putting silver in the "not very precious metal" category for a while.

QP, understood. I had some extra div cash in my ROTH and PAAS was always on my watch list. I like $HL as well due to their ability to stay afloat via base metals. Plus their Super Fund liability has been retired.

Thank you. My pride has probably suffered more than anything. I've always held the belief that no one should dabble in silver if they don't have a years worth of cash on hand for living expenses. It pains me to see comments about nest eggs being lost! Amateurs should not play silver with money that can't afford to lose. My 401K has nearly tripled since 09 I think, so I'm fine. I'll be back after the wound of seeing $15 silver heals up. Cheers to 2015.

Avi, first, a really well constructed article as far as readability. Always a pleasure to read your prose.

I for one said you were wrong and that silver would not break $26 oh so long ago. As a dyed in the wool silver bug, I am finding it particularly difficult to put anymore cash into physical purchases at this point. I did buy PAAS Thursday, but am otherwise hiding under the covers. The camel has vomited in my tent, that's for sure.

  • Gold Bug Psychology Must Be Neutered [View article]
I took a look at GoldSeek, Saw, and wasn't too surprised at the response. I use SilverSeek as my daily price tracker and am familiar with the dogma of the PM purveyors. You know the drill, Central Bankers are Satan incarnate, "Money Printing" will be our ruin, it's only a matter of time, yadda, yadda, yadda. Oh well, conspiracy theorists can be good entertainment in limited quantities.

Here's a line from an article this week by Andrew Hoffman over at SilverSeek I found quite catchy - "And today is no different, given the incredible confluence of events – including the current, expanding silver shortage – that threaten to shake the global monetary order to its foundations."

This is all well and good and I'm glad to see the "Armageddon '08" fear gap has disappeared. I am not running out to buy physical, but I will hold on to the miners I have at this point and wait for redemption.

At it's peak around 2011 I read survey results from a respected source, Bloomberg maybe, that 40% of retail investors thought gold was "The Best" investment. You just had to know how that was going to turn out after real estate was no longer the hottest investment.

To the point, I looked at a chart for the $SPX after reading this article and there appears to be no rhyme nor reason to it. The mean revision appears to have disaster in the making written all over it. Thoughts anyone?

My expectations are the current state of affairs in DC will result in more rancor, discord and inaction, not less and the S&P will peak out in a couple of months. The PM space downside has a ways to go as markets always over correct and there will be more clearance sales to come.

I'm sure I'm not alone in looking forward to them, Avi. From the original comments to this piece I saw that I was not alone in having a bit of a panic attack in not getting my "Avi update" last Sunday morning. Thank you for your contributions here to SA.

  • What Does The End Of QE Mean For The Precious Metals? [View article]
Brutalized miners up good percentages today on little movement in PM prices and oil down 1.37%. The worst appears to have passed. I can only hope. My Wife keeps reminding me how much money I've lost.

patrick, as a follow-up to my first observation, I've been using SA for years and the content has deteriorated over that time frame. When I started visiting originally the content and comments were of a high level. As the participation has increased, the percentage of what I call "the smart people" has decreased and banality increased. Kind of like general society - you run out of the smart people pretty quickly.

I am somewhat surprised at the negativity observation. I like SA for that fact that the site tries to keep things relatively civil as opposed to others where every other comment seems to call someone else an F&*(toid. It's more like driving here, where we freely cut one another off, instead of holding doors open, but I live on the Left coast. As more than one East coast transplant has said "they don't have 4-way stops back east, people would kill each other". Everything is relative.

I've seen similar comments and wonder if you are serious? Bitcoins are the polar opposite to what a PM holding represents to me. A string of symbols held in the Cloud has some perceived value? Why?

Avi made jest of the conspiracy theorists with the spaceman reference, but everyday someone is trying to steal my credit information or identity. Everyday, all day. If a rogue group wants to strike fear in the hearts and minds of the population without bloodshed, just shut down the electronic banking system for a day.

Thanks for the freebie, Avi. Time to trade in my tin foil hat for a ray gun and an end of the world insurance policy. Hey, there's an idea.
