    If I remember my economics classes, Keynesian theory also includes running a surplus in good times. The idea is to dampen the overall economic cycle. Of course, only the spending side is typically used in our political system. The closest we ever came to using both ends of it may have been during the Clinton / Gingrich years.

    The PEG ratio is a kind of snapshot of what the street's analysts are thinking about the stock's prospects. I suspect it might predict short term price movement better than out a few years. After all, the street can't predict P/E ratio out that far.

    This plan leaves out that, Buffett used the tremendous cash flow from the insurance operations to fund his other purchases. You're not going to be able to replicate that with the 1.7% dividend from KIE.

    You could certainly try that. But, what will the stock be worth a month before liquidation? And, the dividend is not guaranteed and could go down with the price of iron ore. You need to figure how much income you will get and how much you think your stock can be sold for. Then, figure if the current price is justified.

    Yes, Antonio. There is a clause in their charter that requires them to liquidate a certain number of years after the last founder died. I suggest you read the other articles on SA for details.

    GNI will completely liquidate in April 2015, at which time the shares become almost worthless. You need to figure if the income stream until then is worth what you are paying for it. There are several relevent articles on SA, just search on GNI.
