Agreed and maybe more investment opportunities? Your new approach of analyzing different players in the sector could be huge now! Prediction: We'll be watching you on CNBC as the premier Cannabis Analyst :)

One I would love to invest in is Canna Security run by Dan Williams. He has said he would like to go public at some point. They provide all different types of security systems to growers, dispensaries etc.

Would be a great pick and shovel play??

  • Gupta's Reversal: A Game-Changer For Medical Marijuana Stocks?  [View article]
Perhaps now they will be willing to try to collect license revenue on THC products in WA or CO.

Interesting, today on FB someone asked that question in a comment under MJNA posting of the DOJ announcement. MJNA responded by providing a link to their 2012 PR - "Medical Marijuana Inc. and Dixie Elixirs Strike Innovative Agreement to Extend Dixie Elixirs Brand to Other MMJ Legal States"

    Appreciate it as always.

Not sure I agree on the Gupta/DOJ importance comparison. I think this news today breaks barriers down that have kept many states and entrepreneurs from getting involved. Things like access to banking could be affected by this too IMO. Time will be the judge as usual.

I've been disappointed enough times in the past, expecting a pop on a stock because of news, only to be let down. Today was exciting but tomorrow is still tomorrow. Nothing changed today on the fundamental front and the issues you've been pointing to that need fixing are still present. That has not been lost on me!

Wow the silence here today is deafening!

I'm guessing Alan is working on a new piece (hope so) because there's no way the game hasn't been changed with today's news!

Wasn't expecting anything till Sept 10 at the earliest. Nice gift going into the long weekend!

Between Gupta and the DOJ this will be a September to Remember!!!!!!

DOJ today announced they WOULD NOT file suit against CO and WA. So in other words they are free to proceed with MJ legalization!

There were some guidelines given like preventing access to minors, drugdriving, trafficing across state line etc.

The door is now cracked open!!!

  • DOJ Guidance Paves Way For Marijuana Stocks  [View article]
Thanks for the timely article! Hard to beat Alan but you scooped him for sure!

Nice job putting today's announcement into perspective. I would point out that Tripp Keber has been very active in the NCIA which is very active legislatively. I think MJNA as a whole has been very cognizant of playing ball with current laws.

So important that CO and WA get this right, I think they know that. This puts everything on the fast track. Other states will follow suit very quickly and use CO and WA as a guide. Hopefully this leads now to breakthroughs like access to banking etc.

    Go MJNA!

Hey Spark, could you get back to me real soon, looks like your days are numbered? Days? Paw Paw says we could be talking hours here, MJNA passing through $.15 as I'm writing.

I see Disney Cruises with my grand babies in my future!!!!!!!

Got my answer today Sparky. Yippeeeee!! It's what we knew but I just wanted them to "say" it. Volume on MJNA quadrupled in five minutes which was my point, many investors wanted reassurance from the DOJ.

This will fast track legislation in lots of other states and should bring a flurry of new entrepreneurs. Concerning MJNA it's hard to predict the effect since this announcement from the DOJ is really THC based.

So, could this lead to MJNA starting to collect royalties from Dixie?

I must say you look great in Purple! Should have way better luck with the ladies now!! I have to apologize, you're smarter than I thought :)

To an earlier point, you're not really my type. Besides, in just a few weeks I'm celebrating my 39th wedding anniverary with my Junior High Sweetheart. Got you beat in that department Alan, although congrats to you also!

39 years! See, I have a pretty good understanding of what it means to go long!! And hey, got two more beautiful little grandbabies on the way. One's coming this Friday via C-section, the other one is due to finish construction sometime in March.

Paw Paw one very happy guy!

Doesn't matter that you get what I'm saying. Senator Leahy agrees that the topic needs clarification from the Federal Govt:

Leahy said in a statement. “I believe that these state laws should be respected. At a minimum, there should be guidance about enforcement from the federal government.”

For any further comments just refer to your tribute!

You ever gonna answer my question? What do you want or expect the DOJ to do immediately in WA and CO?

What I want them to say is they're going to leave the states alone (which is Senator Leahy's position) so what I want them to do is nothing. I believe if that happens many folks join the party that are currently holding back.

So you may not agree but I think the Fed uncertainty on this issue is a problem for many investors (and potential entrepreneurs).

Looks like I may get my wish on Sept 10. Hopefully Holder agrees to testify, would love to watch it on CSPAN. I believe the hearing is at 10 am, EST.

By the way, great article and great decision to branch out and cover the current main players in the industry. Interviews would be a great addition and will add interesting insight into where this industry is headed.

The congressional hearings (concerning Fed/State conflicts on MJ policy) on Sept 10 with Sen Leahy will be very newsworthy and garnish a lot of attention. Attorney General Eric Holder and Deputy Attorney General James Cole have been invited to testify.
