  • Nokia Needs To Tell Us If It Is Going To Sell Its Phone Divisions [View article]
    Interesting perspective.

With the three divisions the potential for a long-term higher return is there, but it will be more chaotic.

With only two divisions they are bolstered with a huge cash surplus from the sale of the handset division which will initially prop the stock up a bit. From there I think the growth will be slow and steady but the peak won't be anywhere near as great as with a flourishing handset division (possibly only 50% of the potential with all three divisions).

For those with a long-term horizon (5+ years), keeping the company together is the best option. For those looking at under 3 years, the sale of the handset division will provide a large boost to the short-term trading of this stock.

This will be the stock to watch in the next year and the Q2 results should provide some insight on some of the questions you raised in this article.

  • Vringo Vs. Google: Ongoing Royalty Prediction [View article]
    Dr. Krieger,

I think what Dan is stating is that if it spiked to that range or higher overnight he would be closing his long position. Since he is trading the stock, a 20% premium on the current price (possibly higher from where he bought it) could be all he's looking for. Does he have a sell order in at these prices? Who knows, but he outlines this so that if it spikes on any news (not necessarily Google) he doesn't have to deal with people complaining that he didn't disclose that information.

I think its funny that 1/4 of his article is now devoted to Risk Factor/Warning/Additional Disclosure. I think the Ravicher bashing may have gotten a little out of hand; this is a very informative article with direct links to past decisions by the same judge in the same realm of litigation.

RR also applies to the period of time after the jury decision, so if they agree to a high RR they will be shelling out some cash even if they implement the workaround on the same day of an agreement.

Its great to see that they've migrated monkeys from typewriters to computers now, they can copy Jim Cramer's opinions perfectly!

Wait...this was written by a human?

    Well that's just sad.

  • The True Value Of Vringo [View instapost]
So with 120 million total shares you're looking at...

Scenario 1) $6.04 cash per share

Scenario 2) $6.78 cash per share

Scenario 3) $9.58 cash per share

Scenario 4) $12.75 cash per share

I think you assume a fairly low multiplier for cash on hand with this first win, maybe only 2x or 3x. When it is proven that they can win more cases or have royalty payments coming for patents with a longer lifespan (past 2016), then the multiplier may hit 5x.

Until they can diversify where the revenue is coming from, possibly through their own products and operations, the business model could easily be fractured if patent reform or losing a case or two puts a kink in the cash flow.

  • Vringo Versus Microsoft, What Is The Prognosis? [View article]
"In that case, MSFT's OSD reported revenue of $2.53 billion in 2011. 20% of that is $50 million. Even if we consider a 20% growth in revenue, it comes to $60 million. At 3.5% (which is the subject matter of post trial motions and settlement discussions between parties), Microsoft would be asked to pay $2.01 million as future royalty in the coming years."

I have to ask...were you a juror on the Google trial? Your math seems to be off in the same peculiar manner.

I'm getting $21 million with your assumptions.

  • Google Request To Postpone Vringo Ongoing Royalty Motion Ignored [View article]
Message board post makes up a date.
Someone uses date in internet article.
Original poster now uses article as proof for date.

Either people aren't bothering with DD, or they just really want the meaning of the word "anytime" to mean "right now".

Jan 25th and Feb 15th are the dates we have backed up with court documents, and should be the only dates to keep in mind.

  • Patent Office Rejects Three Of Four Google Arguments Against Vringo '664 Patent [View instapost]
Previously you had stated that you think Vringo should be valued at approximately $3.15 to $3.25 and that you would be buying under $3.00. Was this catalyst enough to bring your low end buying range up slightly into your value range or have other documents recently released prompted this?
