  • The German Government Might Give An Unexpected Boost To BlackBerry [View article]
    Great article George,

The main issue i have with this encrypted device when they say that no foreign intel agency has broken the encryption.

"So far, no foreign intelligence agency has succeeded in breaking the encryption on the phones, the German Interior Ministry claims."

1st, they would never actually tell them if they did break it in the 1st place.

2nd, the five-eyes has far more collective crypto experience and processing power to break this in my opinion.

  • BlackBerry Execs Costing Investors Billions [View article]
Thorsten did a LOT of damage and most of it you just cannot reverse. He cared less about the shareholder which is why i pulled out at the end of June and never looked back. Perhaps now i might hop back on board

  • More on BlackBerry's (BBRY +2.7%) annual meeting: Thorsten Heins responded to a question about exploring licensing deals by saying BlackBerry will "pursue every opportunity to create value for shareholders." But he also insisted BlackBerry "must create value" before strategic options are considered. Heins disagreed with a shareholder who called the U.S. Z10 launch "a disaster," and blamed disappointing sales on partner efforts (previous). "I talked to staff at many points of sales and they were inadequately trained or not trained at all … marketing materials were missing." [View news story]

  • Pictures of BlackBerry's (BBRY) next Bold phone, the 9720, have leaked. The phone will run on BB7 rather than BB10, and appears to back up the company's promise to launch BB7 phones in order to address lower price points. BlackBerry received an upgrade today from Canada's Desjardins Group, and a bullish coverage launch from ACI Research, but shares nonetheless closed unchanged. [View news story]
I sure hope this is the last of BB7 devices and i totally get why they are releasing it. In 1-2 years time they should offer an upgrade for very reduced cost to move them to the new platform or lose support to key platforms such as BBM. The quicker BB gets this message out the better for them because if they do not set the tone and let the market dictate, they will be in for a wild ride. Win the customer back is what they need to do, then the troves will follow. Perhaps this will make it attractive at 8 or 9 again

  • I Am Joining The Bears In The BlackBerry Bush [View article]
I expected a little tiny increase and not these news. Good call by the bears. Frankly i think people are either in a long term contracts on other devices and/or saving for a summer vacation.

My strategy was to ride it for another 2 quarters past this one because it takes time to turn the tide of utter sludge the former management has left.

I closed 2/3 of my position on BB at a loss following the attitude of Thorsten. As a shareholder, my confidence in him has almost entirely evaporated.

Not the birthday present i was hoping for and i am glad that i was in the right frame of mind all along as a newbie. It was money i was prepared to lose.

Good luck to all the longs and BB

  • 3 New Reasons BlackBerry Is Poised To Break Out [View article]
My boss who has an S2 is fed up with it. The onscreen keyboard is definitely not for the business type as it creates a lot of typos as well as suggesting embarrassing words. Whether it'd be bad grammar or an embarrassing term, it just doesn't cut it in the biz world.

Why did it leave out IOS you say? Well do a quick search for IOS embarrassing texts and you'll see what i mean.

One of the reasons i like blackberry is that they offer a well tested solution, inclusive of grammar which could mean deal or no deal in the business world.

Good article Mark. One comment though:

"BBRY's share of the mobile market has increased by 7% since bottoming in April"

Perhaps you meant :Increased to 7%
