  • In the content-sharing world, all roads lead to Facebook (FB). The social networking behemoth, which controls over a quarter of the web's referral traffic and roughly 1/6 of U.S. Internet usage, has provided a major traffic boost to video sites leveraging its Open Graph social sharing tools. In addition, Vevo has seen a 3x increase in daily registrations since requiring Facebook logins. Legal issues prevent Netflix (NFLX) from joining in on the fun, at least in the U.S. (also)  [View news story]

  • Best Buy (BBY -4.4%) has long been seen as a victim of Amazon's success. Is Apple (AAPL) also responsible for its woes? Forbes' Nigam Arora thinks so. iTunes has damaged Best Buy's CD sales and store traffic, and the iPhone carries lower margins than many of the devices it has taken share from. In addition, consumers increasingly prefer to satisfy their Apple fix by visiting the company's own stores rather than Best Buy. (earlier)  [View news story]
Kinda of late to Apple party, now full fan, especially for trading stocks on iMac, my addiction has spread through family and friends. I feel like I trade better with big screen iMac.

  • Facebook (FB) shares change hands at $44.10 in their final SharesPost auction, as the company shuts down private-exchange trading ahead of its IPO. The closing price translates into a valuation of $104B, or perhaps $110B+ after factoring IPO dilution. Separately, SharesPost rival SecondMarket is laying off 10% of its staff, as it copes with both Facebook's offering and a broader pickup in tech IPO activity.  [View news story]
Seems to me like "big tech" has "vested interest" in "new tech", my opinion only.
