This photo is of myself and my grand-daughter, Veronica. In November 2011, she suddenly and tragically passed away from a systemic and rare genetic illness called "Alpers Syndrome". She was 16 months young. In the wake of this horrific and devastating event, we have started a foundation to help other Alpers kids and their families as they make this journey: www.alpersawareness.org. It is to this cause that I dedicate the remainder of my life, in loving memory of my beloved Veronica.
