  • Early signs from the U.K. Q10 launch are "very very good" and BlackBerry (BBRY +3.1%) foresees "several tens of millions" in Q10 sales altogether, says Thorsten Heins in a Bloomberg TV appearance (video). Given BlackBerry's own sales figures as well as 3rd-party forecasts, he might be getting ahead of himself. Meanwhile, RBC has raised its May quarter BB10 shipment forecast to 2.75M from 2M, citing signs of "pent-up demand" for the Q10. (Jefferies report[View news story]

  • New versions of iOS and Mac OS X will be unveiled at Apple's (AAPL +0.8%) June 10-14 WWDC conference, the company announces. Meanwhile, with shares near $400, the sell-side is much more cautious in its post-earnings comments than it was at higher levels. "These Apples won't harvest before fall," writes Deutsche's Chris Whitmore, disappointed at earnings call remarks suggesting major product launches won't arrive until autumn. "Apple needs to introduce a 5-inch iPhone, a new 5S, and a low cost iPhone." Jim Cramer wasn't pleased with the call either. "This is the kind of conference call that was a revolt against management ... management is in complete denial." (previous[View news story]

BBRY is about more than devices as well, they will be at the forefront of device management across multi-platforms with BES and their ecosystem is slowly, but surely, catching up. (Skype announced with release of Q10). No doubt Apple has the ecosystem and the coffers to prove it but others are catching up and then it will come down to UI and efficiency of which BB wins hands down.

you have no concept of the constraints of Apple's monokernal based OS.

Apple's OS is tapped out, maxed out, getting boggy.

BB10 powered by QNX is in the infancy of mobile computing.

  • Gun-control legislation that would have required background checks online and at guns shows fails in the Senate by a 54-46 vote, short of the 60 required to pass. Some of the reasons for its falling short include concerns over the unnecessary burdens on law-abiding gun owners, and claims that it violates the Constitution’s right to bear arms. [View news story]

  • BlackBerry: Do Short Sellers Feel Lucky? [View article]
I would have agreed with you before the onset of the tablet age. Now business people, older adults, etc want a reliable phone that acts as tool, that is easy to use and communicate with. For movies, music, etc they can use their playbook/ipad/whatever. I believe we are in the age of owning multiple mobile devices of which a hard keypad is key for many users.
