  • BlackBerry (BBRY) loses another big enterprise customer as Home Depot is reportedly switching to Apple's (AAPL) iOS for all store managers and corporate-level employees. The move will have the company swapping out about 10K Blackberrys for iPhones. At this point the approximately 60K Motorola phones used by floor employees will not be affected. [View news story]
Whatever the incentives AAPL may have flashed their way, Depot is sure going to regret this move once it becomes clear what a superior platform BB10 is.

too bad you couldn't get your hands on the Z30. It's incredible.

And BB isn't giving up on touch screen, only focusing on keyboard for corporate clients.

BB will be releasing monster large touch screens later this year and next and they will blow your mind.

    and then some.

  • BlackBerry Now Runs Android Apps Directly [View article]
The sample size of that article was miniscule. It means nothing.
The volume of shares traded as BB climbed from $5.54 to $10.80 over a few weeks indicates that shorts were covering. indeed short position dropped 31 million in that time.
Don't be so sure of yourself ;)

  • Analyze And Dump The BlackBerry REIT [View article]
    Much Ado about nothing.

No consideration of the partnership with Foxconn stemming their hardware losses or the monopoly the company has over end-to-end security.

The article is misguided though well-written.

  • BlackBerry: An Uphill Climb [View article]
I live in a mid-sized Canadian city and I just got back from a little mobile phone stand in the middle of a shopping plaza and was talking to the sales guys. They told me what I have read over and over again: the have had to re-up their inventory 3 times in the past week (fair disclosure - eight BB10s each re-up) because the phones are selling fast. In the manager's words "A lot faster than when the GS3 came out" and that there were people trading in their androids, iphones and even an iPhone 5.

If this is happening everywhere it can't help but bode well for the company's resurgence.

I am LONG BB and CONFIDENT!!!

  • Did BlackBerry Sell 200,000 Passports Or A Million? [View article]
yes, some readers here may recall that when I got a hold of the Passport on launch day I posted a mixed-review with the main issue being the keyboard took a couple of days but now even though I still cannot type as fast as I could on the Z10 (or iphone for that matter), my typing is much more accurate.

It isn't surprising that reviewers may have had similar experiences and lowered their score for the Passport.

Once you learn how to swipe up words on the touch-enabled keyboard and swipe left to erase, or double-tap to align the cursor when editing, it truly is a joy to use.

The only drawback, which paradoxically is it's main strength, is the size. I believe that's a tradeoff that many professionals, and consumers, will choose to make.

Great job by BB to bring this to market with a 30hr battery and solid build. It feel premium and I'm happy that Chen didn't kill it when he took the reigns and I know he also shares that sentiment!
