  • BlackBerry: Very Attractive At These Levels [View article]
    Pretty simple thesis:

QNX/BB10 is future-proof in the sense that it is infinitely expandable without creating bloat unlike iOS and Android.

    Consider this:

A blackberry Z10 gets about 8 hours of battery life, similar to the Iphone 6.

The next generation Z30 gets 20 hours.

The passport gets 25 hours on a single charge.

and yet Apple keeps innovating faster and better chips but they can't increase their battery life.

Apples software is nearing the end of its ability to grow without opening up a host of problems. Too many lines of code. Too many points of failure. Too much energy required to operate.

This is just the beginning as the QNX-based hardware of Blackberry, which by the way has patents for superior speakers and antenna and the best physical AND virtual keyboard. Just as two slightly unparallel lines will diverge greatly over distance so too will Blackberry's hardware/software capabilities begin to dwarf iOS and Android. It already is.

I can truly multi-task and get 25 hours of battery life on my Passport. That's a pipe dream on any iOS or Android device.

Blackberry is ahead of its time. But the collective will catch up when the superiority of its products becomes clearer and clearer.

In five years you will be using a QNX-based device.

Bet my bottom's dollar on it!

    it is a reality amigo.

any sensitive network (like for example the Department of Defence, Germany's government, etc.) are using BES.

With all the cyber thefts that have occurred in recent months what security policies do you think are being written up, as we speak, for the future?

Do you think any CIO, or CEO for that matter would choose a solution which is know to be vulnerable?

    Good luck with that.

In 3 years Blackberry will have a piece of every mobile network in every organization that considers its data to be of a sensitive nature.

I've had the passport from literally, day one.

It took some getting used to. Like about a week. I went traveling for three weeks recently to a beach destination and I took my z10 instead.

I can tell you that man oh man I could never back to a narrow screen for my primary device.
Once your mind gets used to reading 60 characters across, going back to 40 is painful. Cartoonish.

That and the battery life. I charge my passport over night and can sometimes get two full days of use out of it.

    No more power-anxiety.

    10.3.1 is a dream.

Hardware will survive and eventually thrive.

Be patient longs, don't obsess over the day to day shareprice.

    Our vision is long term.

Blackberry is attractive at $9, $12, $15 + on its way back to global necessity due to its security moat.

Oh and not to mention the back end of every future M2M network.

    Buy, stash, forget.

In a year or two you'll thank me.

  • BlackBerry +2.8%; Street mulls hardware/services decline, software growth [View news story]
Andreas what you and other short-sighted bears fail to realize is that the real turnaround begins deep down, in the roots, and it takes time before the fruits are realized.

That tending has been happening under Chen, the company will survive and eventually thrive on the merits of its superior technology. Simple as that.

Huge revenue miss is concerning but profitable despite it is heartening. Hopefully this is the bottom for revenue with all the recent partnerships the company has announced. As per usual conference call and guidance will be key today.
