  • Apple Car: Let's Hope Motor Trend Is Wrong  [View article]
Apple does not have to compete with Toyota. All what Apple has to do is to persuade Toyota (or/and other car makers) to build its car.

  • Apple Vs. FBI: Winning By Coming Up Short  [View article]
That's why I wrote "like". The DOJ will not try again, because their chances to win are now nil.

This is probably not just Apple's security flaw. Apple will fix it, but their dispute with DOJ will not come up again, since it will be like double-jeopady. The legal precedent has been established - DOJ unlocks phones by itself.

  • Why Apple Must Win Vs. The FBI  [View article]
Didn't get it. All 4 conditions that the author states are met in this particular Apple case. If such a law is introduced, what will be the grounds for a company like Apple to argue against the FBI request? The answer is "none". So, why should Apple win this case? To be the last one to deny the government such power grab, provided the above law becomes a reality?

Looks like Chinese are going to snap it. Pity. I hoped to get 400% profit, but will get only 200%. Will buy Caterpillar.

I am completely in the Apple's corner in this matter, however you "safe" analogy is not very illustrative. Government can crack your safe. It can even confiscate it.

  • Apple Moves To Shore Up iPad Line  [View article]
"The Surface Pro runs circles around even the top tier iPads..."
It also runs circles around washing machine and electric coffeemaker. iPad and SurfacePro are different creatures, although their functionality overlaps to some extent. iPad was conceived as a larger HANDHELD device. "Handheld" is a key to its functionality, unless one can grow a third hand. The fair comparison would be between the SurfacePro and MacBook Air, for example, at which point those circles become very small.

Not sure what you are talking about, bil1026. What are the omissions of OS/X? Even today, OS/X is noticeably superior to Windows, with vastly superior user experience, and if there are money-raising schemes on Apple's part, I must have missed them. As to the converted MS Office, I have been using iWorks for years with no complaints.

"the days of client-side apps is long gone : in the biz environments the vast majority of future app interface will be a light browser front-end or App front end to a server app whether that server app is at corporate HQ or an outsource cloud provider."

I doubt this will ever happen, for the majority of users.
