  • Janet Yellen Didn't Gaffe  [View article]
I also believe Yellen's comments helped to reverse a dangerous fall in the Dollar. No gaffe from that perspective either.

  • Should You 'Invest' In AGQ, USLV, Or Any Other Leveraged ETF?  [View article]
Great article, comments much appreciated. Leveraged funds definitely lose tracking over the long term.

On a similar note, the short term can burn you on some commodity funds if you do not fully understand what the underlying trades are based on. The example I saw yesterday regarding DGAZ (3x Short Natural Gas) was interesting. Apparently DGAZ is based on the futures contract price, not spot price so you have to consider what the impact will be as futures contracts roll from month to month. @AHANDE raises this point in the comments following this article and points out where you can get burned if you do not consider all the variables. Long read but valuable lesson for anyone considering a leveraged commodity ETF.

  • Ichimoku Cloud Indicates That Crude Can Go Below $90.48  [View instapost]
Looking at WTI weekly chart going back 2 years, there is a clear symmetrical triangle continuation pattern that appears to be ready to break away, possibly as soon as the April contracts close. I'm shorting (long SCO) as well given high stocks and USD appreciation.
