I can answer this: Mr. Ewe needed to cloak his drivel in the simulacrum of 'authority'. Mr. Ketz was a patsy in this little game.

Mr. Ewe's more recent rebuttals are beyond the pale; what an accounting clownshow.

    This is my favourite bit:

    "Jeff Van Rhee: <taken aback>"

Taken aback? One could have as easily editorialized this as "<clearly astounded with the candour and detail of the answer>".

There's thick irony that this post is subtitled "All Distraction, No Clarity". And this quoting famous people in the article is like a grade-school appeal to authority fallacy. Good gravy.

Bottom line, folks: just listen to the call and judge for yourselves.

Thanks for that deal summary, Chris. Yet another interesting turn of events on this deal. Probably not unprecedented, but I don't recall another such alliance between hostile and friendly.

    Thanks for your considered response.

A guess: assuming H&R doesn't ultimately win Primaris, the break fee issue will never make it to court. There would of course be the usual court filings, nasty quotes in the Globe/FP, etc., but the parties would then settle and move on. Of course, as you intimate, this could take months.

Hey Chris... really enjoyed the way you went through the backstory and various takeover scenarios in this article. By proxy, I've got a couple of dogs in this fight, and I'm finding this to be one of the most interesting takeover 'dances' I've seen in quite a while.

A couple of follow-ups: do you feel that an all-RioCan offer is much more probable than a sweetened offer from KingSett et al.? Also, you mention that it might take 'some time' for an offer to emerge... any SWAG on the timing?
