  • Express Scripts (ESRX) plunges 12.6% following its Q3 report late yesterday, when it said analysts' 2013 forecasts are "overly aggressive." ESRX said EPS would grow but didn't provide specifics, while the Street expects $4.50/share. A "weak business climate and the unemployment outlook" may lead to a loss of members, depressed drug utilization and "increased client demands and expectations," Express Scripts said.  [View news story]

  • Health Care REIT (HCN -1.7%) slips on a downgrade to Neutral at UBS on the back of its acquisition of Sunrise Senior Living yesterday. The firm cites the near-term mechanics of the deal and the pressure it will put on operating leverage, plus the potential overhang from a possible equity offering. The deal was an expensive one for HCN, who paid a 62% premium to Sunrise's closing price on Tuesday - marking a level it hasn't traded at in nearly four years.  [View news story]
Would not be surprised if HCN spins off management arm of SRZ and keeps, of course, the real estate.

  • As crude oil prices tank, more concerns arise for MLPs, even as many have virtually no direct exposure to Europe's troubles. Even at huge Enterprise Products Partners (EPD), macro concerns seem to be outweighing solid earnings. Sustained low Treasury yields may send more income investors to MLPs, but uncertainty over the future of dividend tax structures clouds the picture.   [View news story]

  • A day after selling off due to a weak Q1 report, Frontier Communications (FTR -9.7%) plunged again. Shares are now at multi-decade lows, as fears about the decay of the company's wireline voice base take their toll. Sean Williams points out Frontier shares now sport much lower multiples (and a much higher yield) than those of U.S. telco giants. Frontier is counting on the delivery of IP-based video services to help put an end to its revenue declines.   [View news story]
