  • Straight Shootin': The Truth About Ruger [View article]
RGR has been a great stock for decades and keeps getting better. It will still be doing what it does 50 years from now, and maybe beyond, if it doesn't get bought out.

  • Long-Term Dividend Portfolio With Low Risk That Has Outperformed The Market [View article]
The recent price drop in MOS presented a classic buying opportunity. Those who bought shares in the low 40s are already sitting on a large (hopefully unrealized) gain.

MOS has great financials, is in an absolutely essential industry, and is in my view a great recommendation for a long-term hold. It's still very cheap.

  • California Water Service Group: After Recent Declines, Investors Should Take Note [View article]
I wonder how threatened the operations of CWT are, ultimately, by the essentially permanent drought in the Southwest (and in Hawaii, as a matter of fact). And yes the earthquake risk is high. One big quake and the water pipelines would be shot all to hell. I prefer AWK and WTR. They seem like safer investments.

73% is not a particularly high payout ratio for a utility. Actually it seems quite reasonable.

  • This Tobacco Giant Remains Attractive [View article]
207,000 young people take up smoking each year in the UK alone. http://bbc.in/17pUSbJ There's definitely a future in cigarettes. No, I don't advocate smoking, but millions of people smoke and millions of people will always smoke. Smoking helps people cope with life's struggles, and it does provide income for people like you and me, and for governments.

There are many good stocks yielding more than PM. There are lots of reasons other than just dividends to own PM. The main ones are relative safety and stability.

  • The Pundits Are Wrong, Sell These Stocks Immediately [View article]
How can we benefit from dividend-growth investing if we don't stay in the stocks we buy? Unless you have perfect crystal-ball-gazing ability, dropping in and out of them destroys the compounding effect. I say ride the stock price up and down while continuing to accumulate dividends all the way.

  • The Pundits Are Wrong, Sell These Stocks Immediately [View article]
Some of the sentences in this article are awkward, indeed tortuous.

The plural of "company" is "companies." To me, a monstrosity like "company's" casts doubt on the entire article. If the author doesn't know or doesn't care about basics like that, how much faith can we place in the rest of it?

  • Building A Good-Yielding, Winning Dividend Portfolio According To Graham Principles [View article]
Thanks. I thought that 127% sounded WAY OFF. RGR is very careful with its money.

A smart, long-established company with zero debt, and growing with a new manufacturing facility in NC.

  • Fertilizer Stocks Need To Go Lower [View article]
Why, oh why, do people add an apostrophe and "s" to create plurals? It should be "the Belarusians," not "the Belarusan's." An apostrophe and "s" indicate possession, not a plural. (The misspelling of the word is another matter.)

Maybe this is trivial, but it looks so ignorant.

  • 3 Reasons Why I'm Staying Bullish On Shares Of Potash Corporation Of Saskatchewan [View article]
Merely quoting the company's website does not suggest any deep understanding of the very complex issues involved here, Heather. Nor does "strongly believing" in something.

I don't see how POT raising the dividend is a good thing at this juncture, as indicated by the article. POT may be forced to cut the dividend if potash prices fall and stay low for an extended period.
