  • Why Altria Is A Buy In The Besieged Tobacco Industry [View article]
Best of all, teen smoking rates appear to be rising, especially overseas. Rates among the young are also strong here in the US. Future generations of smokers are lining up.

WTR is a mid-cap. Not a small cap.

A lot more shares? With a price of $85 rather than $90? A FEW more shares.

Good picks. I'd add a fertilizer stock like MOS, though.

Yes, that's all true. COP is a great investment, esp. at its current p/e of 10. Ajay's remark is just childish.

  • 6 Reasons Exxon Mobil Is Currently A Buy [View article]
XOM is an OK investment, certainly very conservative and I hold some, but I feel COP offers more upside with nearly the same level of safety. Not to mention a higher yield.

Long-term holders of either stock will be rewarded. Ditto for the other majors.

I like PM and own it, but just as a matter of principle, I will get nervous if its debt numbers continue to deteriorate. Management needs to get a handle on this. I know that the company has made some acquisitions; I think it's time to digest them before biting into more.

  • Kinder Morgan Inc: 6 Consecutive Quarters Of Dividend Growth [View article]
Debt is a VERY big concern with the Kinder-Morgan complex. And it's always rising. In that sense it reminds me of the US government. Although there's much I like here, and I've owned these companies in the past, if they ever fall on harder times they will fall hard.

  • Exxon Mobil Corporation: An Undervalued Oil And Gas Company To Buy Now [View article]
Yes the current yield is only 2.8%, but Exxon hugely raised its dividend last year; expect more of the same this year. If you hold on to this very safe, very well managed company, the compounded yield on your original investment will grow exponentially. That's how the real money is made . . .

  • Why Kinder Morgan Is A Great Long-Term Investment [View article]
After owning and doing very well with the various Kinder Morgan companies for many years, I became uncomfortable with its vast debt overhang, and no longer own shares or units. Debt levels just keep skyrocketing, up and up and up. However one might care to spin it, there is great risk here.

Why put my money in CAT when I can put it in Cummins (CMI)? Of the two, that's the stock to own.
