  • BlackBerry (BBRY -0.1%) roundup: 1) The WSJ reports David Smith, the exec responsible for the PlayBook, has left the company. The report comes shortly after news the PlayBook won't be updated to support BB10. Thorsten Heins has suggested BlackBerry won't launch new tablets, and instead focus on developing BB10 phones that can be docked with PC/tablet peripherals. Bloomberg recently reported BlackBerry is expecting a pickup in executive departures. 2) A video showing off the A10 has been leaked. Specs were leaked last week. 3) Noting the Q5's high unsubsidized price ($397 in Indonesia), Tero Kuittinen argues BlackBerry badly needs to release cheaper BB10 phones to avoid losing its emerging markets base to ~$100 Android phones. [View news story]

He forecasts just 2.9M BB10 shipments for the May quarter, with half that total consisting of channel fill. [View news story]
