I try to determine without emotions major turning points and strong trends of major assets that include global indices, equity sector classes, high liquidity stocks, debts & fixed income, commodities and currencies. I apply quantitative & qualitative models exploiting relationships among Debts, FX and Equity combining solid academic education, deep macro knowledge & business experience. Sometime investor, never short, usually ETFs, but sometimes individual equities. Native Californian as in born here, educated here, married here (to another native), raising family here. Staunch believer in the scientific method. Consider politics to be nothing more than the organizations of hatreds. Abhorred by the intrusion of politics into all facets of our lives, especially finance and investing. Especially unhappy at what thats done to my once beautiful state, but determined to see that reversed.

36 years old. Native German. I work as an equity analyst at a boutique Investment Bank in Europe. I started investing privately in 2001 - just to get burned badly. Got back to investing my private wealth in 2013 with great success so far. I prefer momentum and value strategies. Typically looking for out-of-favour stocks with quality business models. Use fundamental analysis (competitive strategy, defensibility, structural growth potential, valuation, free cash generation) combined with technical analysis for entry/exit points. I am willing to hold high conviction ideas for 1-2 years but will trade in and out of positions depending on news flow and technical indicators (oversold, overbought). I am currently heavily invested into oil and commodities (zinc, copper).
I am an individual investor who initially joined this sight to thinking it was a place to gain insight on what to buy but instead it t has become a financial education for me. A few special contributors and a couple of very very smart commentors have unselfishly shared their expertise and knowledge with me and those on seeking alpha. These communications have changed my investing/financial life. Could not be more grateful.
