  • QR Energy Benefits From The Merger, How About BreitBurn? [View article]
I own QRE. Happy with the buyout. My concern with BBEP is that it has negative Ret. on Equity and high debt relative to EBITDA. I only invest in MLP's that have a ROE of at least 15 and D/E of less that 4. BBEP exceeds both those limits.(ROE minus .92%, D/E 5.2 ). Using those criterias and CAGR, has worked well for me.

  • QR Energy: Is It Time To Ring The Register? [View article]
I don't care about BBEP until the merger. All I know is i'll be getting 4 or 5 more monthly dist. sooooo, I'm adding that to my potential final value and the market will too in the near term. Exact same thing happened to my PDH, was bought out and the price shot up to the value of the buyout AND the future distribution. Buyout was $14 and stock traded at $14.45 since it had a $.40 dist. forthcoming.

    Final day, buyout @ 14.00 and we received a $.40 dist. = $14.40

The ambulance chasers always file legal notices whenever there is a merger.

Deal expects to close end of '14 or early '15. Us QRE holders will still be getting monthly distributions @ $.16/share/month. Assuming 4 more months of dist., thats $.64 more in dists. So, the potential future value of QRE is $22.48 + $.64 = $23.12.

On top of that, we are getting a tax free exchange. If I sell my considerable position, I'll be incurring a sizable tax bill. I'm hanging in. If the deal falls through, then I'll have my shares yielding 10%. The fact that BBEP desires QRE indicates to me that QRE is undervalued.

I too am interested in ETE however, I find it overpriced when I look at my favorite statistics from Yahoo. It's Debt/EBITDA is 7, and its ROE and ROA is 2%. I generally don't buy mlps unless they have a ROE of at least 15%. Not saying its a poor investment, I understand the growth story, just not for me since there are other mlps that meet my personal criteria.

Excellant article. For my trading, I specialize in spinoffs that are MLP's. Needless to say I'm a happy camper with PSXP although I don't understand its lofty valuation

  • A Closer Look At Plains All American Pipeline's Distributable Cash Flow As Of Q1 2014 [View article]
Good Article. But wow, why wouldn't I buy WPZ instead of PAA. in the last chart if one compares the 2014 EBITDA guidance vs TTM EBITDA numbers one gets an 48% increase for WPZ vs 6% for PAA. Plus WPZ pays a higher dist.

Thank you for your response. That is my favorite criteria too. Of course, I temper that with consideration of what is its EV/EBITDA.
