  • Update: A. M. Castle Q3 Earnings Disappoint Again [View article]
Based on your stated analysis, and the price action in the stock, there appears to be a good deal of downside risk left.

  • The Biggest Risks To Stocks In 2015: A 10-Point Analysis [View article]
Thanks for the info, David. If Q1 earnings disappoint and that forecast proves to be correct, I think that could be the catalyst to push the market lower, getting the Fed off the hook for a June hike.

  • The Biggest Risks To Stocks In 2015: A 10-Point Analysis [View article]
Great article, James! I think you are on point with the correction idea, but I believe it will be induced by the Fed because even though it is the most dovish in many years, the banks are all starting to scream that their profit margins are shrinking, so rates need to rise. I also think that the Fed, while stating "patience," is looking to get rates off the ground (zero) level so that they can begin bringing their balance sheet back to a more reasonable level in the next couple of years.
I think Yellen will be more comfortable with raising rates now that oil has fallen so far, believing that the steep decline will provide enough of an economic tailwind to allow for the Fed to begin to slowly work toward normalizing rates. I think she will move 25bps in June with another 25bps in the early part of next year. The June raise will cause a steep pullback in the market, but barring any external shock, the market will bounce back as long as GDP remains stable in the 2-3% range.

  • Update: Plug Power Shows Its True Colors [View article]
In spite of the lowered guidance, the company broke ground on three new Walmart distribution refueling sites. Walmart continues to add sites, I find that to be a very strong endorsement for a company that has introduced and proven to have a innovative, money-saving product for the material handling space. New customers are sure to be a catalyst for more upside. I will continue to buy on dips.

  • Update: With Plug Power's Growth Its Management Changes Will Have An Impact [View article]
"Plug Power has clearly demonstrated the advantages of a one-source construction model, while establishing itself as the expert vendor for onsite development of hydrogen delivery, storage and dispensing systems. Cortes' knowledge of investment planning to drive product development and market penetration will enable Plug Power to more effectively expand implementation of its GenFuel solution within adjacent segments, while maintaining comprehensive support at existing material handling customer sites." Attribution should have been given as this was taken directly from this morning's press release.

  • Caterpillar reports retail statistics ending December [View news story]
From a technical stand point, CAT seems ready to take a fall, showing a triple top over the past year, and now hovering near a long term support level. Disappointing earnings and/or guidance may send shares tumbling tomorrow.

  • Plug Power Had A Disappointing Q3 [View article]
Yeah, they missed rev and earings targets. 5 mil a/r comes in on time and it is a different story. As for margins, same thing. They missed expectations, but yoy, it is a great improvement. They are growing and nothing grows up in a straight line, be it people, plants, animals, or businesses.

  • Update: I Remain Positive Despite Less Than Impressive Earnings By Plug Power [View article]
    Phil,
There are always two sides to every trade, but S/P is hugging support level. Mid threes seem highly unlikely with bounces off of $3.60 low at open Monday and $3.77 low at open yesterday. Add in RSI coming out of oversold condition, and I'd say the move is likely higher from here, so I can't see much profit from shorting at this level.

So AMZN, which continues to increase revenues, leads its current market, and is expanding into new markets, while posting Qtr after Qtr losses, year after year, yet continues to trade north of $300, should be worth what in your opinion, $.75?

  • Update: I Remain Positive Despite Less Than Impressive Earnings By Plug Power [View article]
Phil, I don't expect the price to decline through the rest of the month, it is close to being oversold where it is. I expect it to rebound through year-end to fill the gap-down it just made. Should it drop at the open tomorrow, I can add to my position before the rebound begins. Short interest is still pretty high, and there are a lot of calls being bought since volatility has fallen, so any decent move up could easily put a squeeze on the shorts.
