The fact that this person keeps repeating the same garbage does not make it true. I think to some degree all stock investments are somewhat speculative and you should not put your nest egg in the market..Keep it in a CD or your mattress. I have a rule that I don't have more that 6% in any one stock, so at some point I may need to take profits..Most of the other 25 stock positions that I need to keep track of are of greater risk than GE.

Sorry, you just don't know what your talking about. GE is a conglomerate which has operated well in a very risk driven period for the market. If you see that company as highly speculative, then I just don't think you belong in the market. Keep your cash in your mattress.

  • New Year Could See Immediate Recession At Worst, Slower Growth At Best [View article]
Well, January will come and most of us will wake up and find that the floor is still there. Then, as the cliff bs slowly recedes into history most will realize that there is only one really good place to keep your investments - the good ol U S of A. The January rally will be alive and well!

Well, I look at it this way. If I was sitting on some gold bars and I wanted to keep them, would I put them in a vault in the twin towers or might I rather store them in the pentagon? This is why GE is a legacy holding and Apple is not. Now, do I wish I had bought that Apple stock a couple of years ago when it was meandering around $100 a share, you bet I do. But if I owned them now and wanted to keep them, I would put at least half in the GE pentagon.

  • The Case For Investing In Suncor Energy [View article]
Yes, but Canadian oil is more reliable than OPEC whatever its make up. I just wish that we could solidify the North American holdings so that there is a chance that the price of gas could stabilize. I am sure Suncore can make money with gas selling at $5 a gallon, which is where we seem to be heading in the long run.

Yes, I have long since ceased to try to apply logic to the short term market. I think that short term speculators must get together at Starbucks and move back and forth like herds of lemmings. Or perhaps there is a master manipulator some place, At any rate we can expect a rebound once this silly "cliff" farce has played itself out.

  • China opens wide the gates to its stock market, ending the $1B limit on stock ownership by overseas sovereign wealth funds and central banks. A rumor this move was coming was likely behind the 4.3% moonshot in Shanghai overnight. FXI +1.7% premarket. [View news story]
This seems like good news for AA, F, and GE!

Look, what does a share holder of GE have to lose, especially if it is designated as a legacy holding? I would be very happy to see it double and would not sell (but I might hedge) if it were to climb to $50 dollars a share. Now that would not be silly would it?

It is nice to have a stable stock in your portfolio that you don't need to think or write about. Slow acquisition makes sense however to keep it at about 5% of the porfolio.

Its about time to reward the shareholders, I have owned this stock for over a year and it has trended slighly downward. Your article helps at least a little to shore up the faithful. Thank you.
