Reuters currently has a negative rating on the stock. SmartConsensus rates it as a "sell." MarketsEdge Second Opinion rates it as a sell. Now I am not saying these guys are right but is must have some impact...maybe depress the stock so I can by more cheaply?

I own some LINE, but have you seen the current analysts dissing this stock? What's up with that anyway. I have ridden this stock a long ways and made good money. Isn't this a typically weak time period for energy stocks that tend to move higher in the spring?
Why General Electric's Dividend Is Fantastic [View article]
I would not describe the GE dividend as "fantastic". It is good and I agree that it is not likely to be cut. A 5% dividend would be fantastic. Look at T..Now there is a fantastic dividend.
General Electric: Is The 3.6% Yield Enough Of A Reward For Owning This Stock? [View article]
Contraria I agree with you and am basically in the same position. Anyone with a little patience should be able to see that GE is really reflecting the U.S. economy and I actually use it as a proxy for just that reason. The large financing arm of this company created a large dip as it did with all banking stocks, but it is not going to go bankrupt any time soon and it will continue to pay a dividend that beats keeping your money in a bank (or a bank stock). GE is a legacy holding of mine and I just smile when I hear this trash talk.

I hold T but cannot make it a legacy holding because it is based on so much smoke and mirrors. I will either sell or protect my position as I reach 30% appreciation which should happen in 2013. It's kind of like owning MO or KO, based on smoke and mirrors.

Yes, Immelt will not be truely appreciated until he is gone wheich is exactly what happened to Jack Welch. Both are very very conservative CEO's which is exactly what you want for a big massive company like GE. The stock of this company will never turn on a dime but that's what makes it the fundimental base of my portfolio.
