Gene Jacquet: Every one has an opinion, Mr Carlini comments and opinions are appreciated by me and I look forward to reading them. My career includes 5.5 years at Disneyland from 1954 under construction until 1960 when I started my own building business. Walt would never put anyone down in meetings he was the guy who lead by listening and wise cracking when things got tight. He built a team of diversified experts who could take ideas his and others from conception to completion. Carlini reminds me of one of the team guys , the numbers guy Larry Tryon who was driven nuts by guys like me who missed the numbers on some projects, Walt Disney a humble man who greatest gift being Walt, being humble.

Uncle Jack, love your comments even if I tend to have another take. My car is fun to drive and politically incorrect . The CHICOMS are buying up the new models, and the California dealers are on the wait list. So I'll hit the freeway and watch the girls pass me in my Porsche 911S Cabriolet 997 . BTW any thoughts on the election and fiscal cliff projections..

The company lowers the top end of 2012 revenue guidance to $70B from $72B (low end remains $68B) due to the weaker global economy and stronger greenback. 2012 profit forecast raised to $9.60 from $9.50. "The good news is, this doesn't feel like 2008." Shares +3.9% premarket. (PR)  [View news story]

  • Caterpillar (CAT +0.9%) loses altitude as its earnings call progresses. Management attitude can best be described as one of hope - hope economies will turn, hope governments will do the right thing, hope central banks will stimulate more. Nice summary here. (earnings earlier)  [View news story]

Based on a career of dealing city and county government here in southern California my summation is that the spending is out of control and leaders are amateurs who come in with no leadership experience.. . .Runaway spending and unfunded retirement accounts are examples of why money will run out up and down the state. Stockton is the leadoff city. Stay tuned. I am retired builder 34 years worth 3 counties and 20 cities from 50's through the 80's in business here in California.

According to some MD friends some of the unintended results will be a MD shortage. This shortage will be filled by MD's brought in from other countries many Muslims. These folks will sit on the medical decision boards that ration eligibility for major medical procedures.

Cities and counties are in the financial countdown as well as the non performing school districts who by law get 50% of all state tax money . The only taxpayer help is prop 13 that indexed property taxes. Seriously some of you guys are problem solvers any suggestions?
