    "JRP, you're right"

That's what happens when you do actual research into a topic instead of simply posting what you wish to be true ;-)

"I have never, ever seen such dog-rough prototypes running around, 3-6 months before the supposed start of mass production.

What on earth are Tesla doing?"

Apparently Dave is not familiar with the concept of camouflage, or a door not fully closed. We've seen that same vehicle, or one just like it, with a flush door, and also with the dark plastic trim on the front wheel well which is missing in this pic. No big deal, it's a test car with fake panels covering the real body. Dave thinks those should be perfectly aligned and buffed and waxed I guess....

"The entire theory of pump and dump is to buy cheap, run the price to a silly level and then bail on your entire position with obscene profits. That simply didn't happen."

Trying to prop up the price of a failing stock while trying to unload certainly is pump and dump. Just because it didn't work out as well as you would have liked doesn't mean it didn't happen.

"That being said I never presume to criticize someone else unless I've walked a mile in his shoes."

Your comment stream history would suggest otherwise.

"Over 300 (possibly 338) brand new Fisker Karma hybrid vehicles caught fire and were a total loss while sitting at a New Jersey shipping location during Superstorm Sandy. They alledgedly had been submerged under 5 feet of salt water during the storm."

Perfect example if misinformation. The Fisker fires had nothing to do with the lithium batteries, but with the 12V systems. There were a number of ICE vehicles, no where near the Fiskers, which also caught fire because of a shorted out 12V system.

Additionally, with the huge number of lithium cells in all the LEAF, Volt, and Tesla vehicles on the road there has not been one single case of so called "field failures" that some people seem to think are common place. Reality has proven EV's safer than ICE, just as predicted.

How about 3. They are production constrained because of outside suppliers? We know that's been the case in the past.

    DRG,
JB's statement was on March 15 of this year, Tesla always produces more cars than it can deliver in a Q, and your cars in inventory number is completely made up. Other than that...

"what do you mean tesla doesn't get subsidies? what about the ZEV credits? And what about the sales tax exemptions in some states and federal and state tax write-offs that buyers get. What are these if not subsidies?"

Every automaker can take advantage of ZEV credits if they choose, and the state and federal tax rebates go to individuals, not Tesla.

Thousands of comments on AXPW as a screaming buy while he was selling shares. Amazing.

"The possible safety issue I see with the EKSO batteries is that if even one disabled person goes up in flames because just the right rare conditions may have caused the batteries to ignite, the product and company are toast."

People have been injured by laptops and cell phones, are Sony, Dell, Samsung, and Apple, "toast"? Plus the fact that I'm not aware of a single LiFePO4 cell ever mysteriously going up in flames in any rare condition, ever.

Then there is that completely "safe" lead acid battery

Guess all those lead acid battery companies are "toast".

My discussion with you has been right inline with my stated purpose.

JB Straubel discusses the progression of lithium batteries in this talk, not that you'd be interested in hearing from someone actually in the industry.

What's amusing in this thread is how everyone has their own version of who the X will really attract. What that obviously shows is the real market for the X is quite diverse. As a 7 year member of TMC I've interacted with more Tesla owners on a daily basis than probably anyone on SA and I can assure you that the attempts of CParm and others to categorize them simply as eco minded rich intent on showing off the latest thing is beyond sophomoric and completely inaccurate. Your closely held biases cloud your vision of the entire business model for Tesla, and exposes the weakness of your bear positions. Sure you can make some short term plays for profit, volitile stocks will always provide such, but ultimately reality will force you to either change your position or lose a lot of money.
