  • Why "S&P 2000″ Is A Fed Manufactured Mirage: The "Buy The Dips" Chart That Says It All [View article]
It just looks like a "race to the bottom" for the markets of the Western World - each trying to make their currency worth"less" than their competitor.

At some point - sometime - somebody is just going to say "no - your paper is not good here".

Paper solves all - for now - funny how gold went down in "price" yet you go and try and buy an actual physical bar of it - you couldn't - they were sold out - yet "Supply and Demand" would dictate that should never happen right?

The "fundamentals" are gone - its all a fairy tale now - and I think those writing the fairy tale realize its going to be a nasty wake up call if they stop....so they'll kick the can for the next person to deal with, just like everything else.

The Fed has your back...that's the story of 2013/14.

Till they make the USD irrelevant - I can't see this changing anytime soon.

When China no longer accepts USD's, then we'll see the "reality" return to the market.

  • Molycorp: Sans Oaktree Financing, Q1 2015 Bankruptcy Likely [View article]
Shock - in the event that it's "Business as usual" for MCP - where RE prices remain well below the price they pay to produce them - who stands to benefit when the $400m lifeline is exhausted?

Could you summarize that in layman's terms? Maybe even an article like "worst case scenario"?

Buffet - you're still dodging the question.

If the sale price per kg is +/- $4/kg - and your COST to make it is $6-$7 - NOT including any of the new additional debt which per REE's post is ANOTHER $6/kg....so your COST is 3 TIMES what you're able to sell for?

So - with that said - how do you make a profit?

Mustang - go look at the uses of CERIUM and LANTHANUM - they're certainly not going to shut down the world as we know it if the supply was disrupted.

These are the 2 most COMMON elements in the world - there's nothing RARE about them.

Get the fundamentals and you'll see why the share price is where it is.

    REE - I agree.

With Cerium prices at approximately $12/kg - even IF production costs get down to the prices the author is suggesting of $6-$7 - when you factor in the new costs of the financing (the $7.31/kg your math suggests) - MCP is STILL losing money as their production cost is $13/$14.

This doesn't even go in to existing debt they have.....I just can't see this ever being profitable.

  • POOF! There Goes The Short Thesis: Molycorp Receives $400MM Lifeline [View article]
Shock - per your numbers - Moly are losing +/- 80m a quarter - so assuming there's no increase in RE prices over the next 12 months - won't this $400m lifeline be exhausted?

  • Apple's iPhone 6 Event: A Turning Point [View article]
Bit - have a look at why the Galaxy 5 isn't selling - its simply because its replacing a phone (Galaxy 4) that isn't in NEED of being replaced.

Its the same problem as Intel is having - their Sandybridge chips were so good - there's no NEED to upgrade.

People will believe what they choose to - but if the 6 isn't something tremendously different than the 5 - see Samsung.

Arnie - I think you're missing my point.

The changes are now becoming incremental between generations rather than monumental.

Compare an iPhone2 vs iPhone4 - that's night and day.
Compare an iPhone4 vs iPhone6 - the gap isn't as much.

The new additions to the iPhone6 are just minor tweaks or perks - not game changers. That the same reason Galaxy S4 vs S6 or Nexus 4 vs 5 etc etc etc.

The tech is already good - so the demand for change is plateauing for ALL manufacturers - Apple/Android - it doesn't matter.

  • Don't Buy This Dip: The Fed Is Not Your Friend [View article]
Drew - but the question remains - can the FED prop this market up indefinitely?

There's no RISK in today's markets given the market knows the FED will always be there to prop it up - you can't have it both ways, a capitalist model needs risk AND reward - right now it's all gravy.

  • Apple's iPhone 6 Event: A Turning Point [View article]
Problem is technology has outpaced consumer needs - check out the desktop market for the last 7 years or more - CPU's got faster but the NEED for a faster CPU didn't - programers just haven't kept up. The problem is now spread to smartphones - hence Samsungs numbers - why buy a GS6 when a GS4 is still an awesomely fast phone?? Same will be said of the iPhone 5 vs the 6 - technology won't be the driver here as the iPhone 5 is a great peice of tech, it'll come down to marketing that.

Also - the lower end makers like LG etc are rapidly catching up - One+ is another - providing top level tech for half the price.

The easy days of smartphones are well behind us as the pack has caught up - and people still don't have a need for a quad core smartphone - let alone a faster quad core smartphone....

  • Don't Buy This Dip: The Fed Is Not Your Friend [View article]
I'm talking in general in the past 2 years.

Anytime there were positive US employment numbers - the EU rallied - yet - magically the DOW dives.

How come in that time of all that "news" the VIX was at record lows and traders were "bored"? Yet 4% GDP and unemployment knocking on 5%'s door - then the action starts?

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize its the Fed and the punchbowl.

When the punchbowl is gone - then we'll see who's right and who's wrong.

Love all the Fed Bulls here that don't think its a Fed bubble. Let me ask you this - why is it that the DOW only goes down when there's POSITIVE economic news? Aregntina, Ukraine, Iraq - all these "news" items have ZERO impact - yet 4% GDP - 24 hrs later there's the sell-off.....
