Karl, Bernanke has made it clear money printing and hyperinflation are the only solution to our overwhelming debt problem. It's now pedal to the metal with QE and Lloyd and friends are leveraging 9/1. They are now forcing all pension fund managers to go all in with equities and will soon suck in the cautious retail crowd.
Since Ben has an unlimited check book (trillions) and focused intent he can sustain this ponzi for quite a while longer, probably until he triggers a global collapse, which is probably the least worst (relative)scenario for the US in his view.
How do you invest looking at this Fed train barreling towards you?

Karl, could you elaborate on the 'pincers are closing' theme. I'm intrigued to know how you think this game plays out. I'm not sure who is going to stop Ben's insane liquidity games since he doesn't want to be fingered by history as the man who fired the starter pistol on the 2nd Great Depression.
BTW, selfish US mercantalism is the only way we'll put 10mm Americans back to work in manufacturing. Trump uderstands and slapping tariffs on the cheating Chinese is the only solution. Geithner's talks about fx rates is just noise. Even doubling the value of the Yuan will make zero difference to our trade balance. We can't compete with people earning $2k p.a. who's own market is totally protected via Gov't buying policies and 51% J/V's which steal our technology. Immelt should be tried for Treason for handing red China our avionics technology which will kill our last big exporter, Boeing and hasten China's military dominance to support it's global trade dominance. We're stuck with 22% (real) unemployment and declining benefits until we withdraw from WTO and focus on reinforcing our strong continental, and potentially self sufficient, economy.
Since our politicians are mostly bought and paid for by the globally oriented Corp lobbyists (Bilderberg group), I suspect that the hollowing out of America will continue awhile longer, witness Immelts appointment by Obama yesterday. Talk about a Trojan horse.

        Gregory, excellent analysis.
Pls note that the $287 million you show as debt is actually cash at SKX. Co. has an incredible $8 cash per share and no material debt. Buy back is coming at the end of Q1 IMO.
Shape-ups are not a fad. Read some of the 3000 reviews at Zappos.com People are buying multiple pairs. They are buying mainly to resolve foot, leg and back pain issues. It's become a classic work shoe for nurses, hospitality industry workers, factory floor/warehouse etc.
Amazingly, the 'old' one and a half year old model is still the most popular - so the inventory 'problem' is hugely overstated.
Industry expert Matt Powell expects toning to grow another 50% in 2011.

The industry buyers I talk to feel that the toning category will next year embrace 'comfort walking' and will become a big new category. This is not a one year wonder. It's analogous to Reebok's aerobic breakthrough 20 years ago. Total category sales will grow, but there will eventually be increased competition from the likes of Nike and Adidas. That's the only threat to SKX sales volume, not the demise of 'toning'. There are a growing base of satisfied repeat buyers. SKX are on the right track with the 'mature athlete' endorsements TV and pop ads and are leading the industry with A&P for this category.
There is definately seasonality to this product as Skechers launched this as a 'white shoe'. They'll now broaden this to encompass black and brown toning and 'comfort walking', building on the credibility they've esablished via the product and the ads.
