  • Shell's New Midstream MLP To Deliver Value And Dividends To Investors [View article]
It will be a "spin-off" which usually means that Shell shareholders (RDS-A, B) will receive shares in the new MLP when it is "spun-off" from the parent company. Thats how it worked with Conoco Phillisips and Marathon oil anyway. Can someone verify this info?

  • SandRidge Energy: Turnaround In 2014? [View article]
Thank you Mr. Zeits for an excellent article, I am holding off right now on SD, there are many other excellent O & G companies to invest in besides SD that don't have the debt overhang.

  • Analysis Of Warren Buffett's New Position: Liberty Global [View article]
It was simply ex-dividend date and the company had already announced the stock dividend and the exact ex-dividend date (March 4, 2014) several months before.

  • Why Would Anyone Invest In General Motors? [View article]
All you have to do is drive a Ford or Toyota or Honda, then drive a Chevy and you will not invest in GM. The only positive is the China sales and possible growth.

  • Why Did Buffett Reduce ConocoPhillips Stake And Add Exxon Mobil? [View article]
You are correct about the share buybacks not adding much value for investors. Although it looks good in the press, many times the buybacks are negated by management issuing new shares for them self when they exercise their numerous stock options. Of course some company buybacks are sincere and beneficial for improving earnings/share, but I am usually skeptical when I read about a new share buyback. That said, I consider XOM one of the best managed oil companies in the world, they are absolutely ruthless when it comes to protecting their interests.

Apologizes to Chris DeMuth, it was not my intent to castigize or assign blame. I am just frustrated over this extremely negative development. However, even without FDA approval there is a chance to eke out a profit even though it may take several years now.

So where is Mr. DeMuth Jr. now? I am surprised he hasn't posted anything yet today. I have just lost a large amount of capital by listening to his Lemtrada recommendation...........

  • Do Investors Disagree With The US Airways-American Airlines Valuation? [View article]
I bought LCC last summer when it started to look likely that a merger
would take place. I have been familiar with American Airlines for many years and worked for them once at the Tulsa maintenance base, they have a highly skilled work force there so I hope LCC will keep and expand the maintenance base. I already have a good profit, but I plan on holding this long term to at least $20, hopefully more. As the economy improves, air travel will improve even more and the profits will roll in for LCC.

  • This Fund Offers Berkshire Hathaway At A Discount, But With A Catch [View article]
Another reason I like SOR is the expense ratio is only around 0.86% -
not bad for a leveraged, high quality stock fund. Beware when buying tho of the volatility, it has a high beta during big market moves so best to enter a limit buy order.

Thanks for your articles, I like closed end funds at a discount. have you ever looked at SOR? It doesn't trade at a big discount very often, but I have bought in the past at 15% - 18%.

Thanks for the additional comments. I do own MPC as a result of the MRO spin-off, and it has done better than MRO post spin.
