Please don't lump all NYers into this camp of not wanting fracking.
There are plenty of us who see the benefits.

Buring wood has been under lawmakers microscope for some time now. I kid you not.

I live in WNY just miles from the PA border...

My governor knows what is best for me and my family. Thank goodness he is in office and has my best interests in his heart.

I believe that plenty changes with this decision.

The moratorium banned fracking until research was conducted and reports were filed. Reports were filed years ago and the Governor sat on them until now.

Banning fracking is different than issuing a moratorium on fracking, IMO.

Why is this practice OK for Pennsylvania (and other states) but not for NY?

New York state is moving to banning fracking, according to Governor Andrew Cuomo. Read more here:

The report from the Department of Environmental Conservation took years to be made public as Gov. Cuomo sat on the report and continued a fracking moratorium. Pandering to a certain base?

No mention of Pennsylvania and how fracking has been taking there for years.

Cleaning up some speculative losses at the end of the year and entered into $APTS position in one portfolio. $HTA in the other has been a long-term hold.

    Thoughts on REITS in general?

FedEx reports not so good numbers and UPS pays the price. Both are BUYS in my book, although I only own $UPS. Held both briefly but felt too heavy and trimmed FedEx. $UPS has been a thoroughbred.

    Good mid-day to you all.

A more simple tax system makes sense to everyone but the publishers of the tax code books.
Stacks upon stacks of tax codes.
There has to be a better way.
    Thanks for your input slackjawedidiot.

    Not a fan of CNBC.

I turn to NBR on PBS each evening. Not sure who suggested this some time back, but it is an excellent program, IMO.

    Thanks polecat.

Everyone loves The Honorable Jon Corzine at CNBC. He's a rock-star.

Are tax loopholes illegal? Plenty of US corporations take advantage of such loopholes. Is this illegal?

US lawmakers have the ability to close loopholes, if I am not mistaken. Corporations may not be too pleased if this happens and clawback on donations to said lawmakers. The fog is lifting and the picture is getting clearer. Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

Good Morning to all WSB readers.

A $700M fine to settle a bribery case. No irony to be found there. Also no people going to jail. Tis the season to settle bribery by paying your way out of it.

Need a stock to bounce 20%? Take a page from $APP and fire the CEO. American Apparel looking to turn things around on this move.

Sony hacking continues to make news. How quickly we have forgotten about the breaches at Home Depot and Target which involved tens of millions of people and their information. Not sure what the decision difficulty is with Sony pulling their movie that has caused so much trouble. North Korea continues to neither confirm or deny any involvement.

If there was a loophole that allowed the Chinese to sell solar equipment cheaply, were they doing it illegally? I am all for competition, but if there is no law in place, is it illegal to do take advantage of the solar market?

Where is Jon Corzine and how do this news affect his MF Global Import business which he operates out of his Hamptons garage?

Have a great day everyone. Stay safe out there.

English as second language is an educational accommodation that happens more and more.
There is a huge need for multilingual educators around the US.

My middle school students are sometimes amazed that I can speak some Spanish, French, and Norwegian. It is good to show them that it is big world out there and learning a foreign language is something to strive for. I suggest Spanish, French, Mandarin, and Russia when they ask my opinion.

Just my two cents (Deux cents, dos centavo, to cents)

Hollywood writers could have never come up with this storyline.
Battle is being won by N. Korea (although they will not confirm or deny that they are in the fight) and Hollywood is on the ropes. Pitching a shutout up to this point.
Wondering when the white flags will start waving?

Good Morning to all WSB readers.

Congratulations to the above winners. $LGF has been a huge winner for me as well.

Chuck Schumer is at it again. Fresh off his call for a Federal investigation as to why the gasoline prices are so high in western NY, Mr. Schumer is calling for an investigation of the airline industry and their ticket pricing. Still waiting for an answer to gas pricing and it seems that nobody is listening to Chuck.

Speaking of airlines, is now the time to speculate with this sector?

A roll-back of Dodd-Frank just in time for Christmas. Very interesting to see that elected representatives feel that banking reforms should be relaxed. Have the TBTF banks earned this roll-back? I'm sticking with my local bank and credit union.

New look to SA homepage. Just in time for Christmas. As with anything new, it will take some time to become comfortable with it.

$UPS getting ready for their busiest day of the year, Dec. 22nd. Brown is looking solid, weather permitting, as is FedEx.

Instead of things getting better for Sony, they seem to be getting worse. Still no answers as to responsibility. Breaches at Home Depot and Target were pretty significant but didn't involve the entertainment industry, just the common folks. It's clear to see that actors are a little higher up on the class pyramid. How sad.

Where is Jon Corzine and will he be called upon to mediate the Amazon Germany strike?

Have a great day everyone. Stay safe out there.
