  • Update: BP's Cash Hemorrhage To Accelerate From Fines [View article]
Information above puts the price tag at $12B. No comment from the specialist on this number.
I keep in mind that some financial outfits like JPM have paid over $30B in fines and continue to operate without issues.
BP will bounce back. Time to add shares.

  • Update: BP's Cash Hemorrhage To Accelerate From Fines [View article]
Being long $BP means holding the stock for years. The ruling will be appealed, I would think, and the stock will rebound.

Keep in mind that Apple was down over 4% yesterday and nobody hit the panic button.

Hope The Specialist doesn't hurt him/herself patting their own back over this decision.

Have to wonder if Judge Barbier and The Specialist are one-in-the-same?

Long $BP and more excited about jet fuel news yesterday than worried about ruling today.

Quite a bit of history behind the Zippo lighter. WWII, Korea, Vietnam...I teach history so this stuff really interests me.

A piece of Americana, no doubt.

While $BP is down 4.57% as I type, why is this considered a "plunge?"

Apple was down over 4% yesterday and not once did it "plunge."

    Poor choice of words, IMO.

    http://www.zippo.com

Here is their homepage. I played for summer basketball and softball teams years ago that were sponsored by Zippo. A friend's father was a executive there and our connection to some stylish shirts and jackets. Class outfit, IMO.

Too bad lighter was lost. American Pickers might pay top dollar for it!

    wyostocks,

Is the Zippo lighter still working? Windproof design is nice.

Some of them become collectables, from what I can gather.

Good morning to all WSB readers.

I did not know that Zippo was involved in a lawsuit over the Blu name and use. Home base for Zippo is Bradford, PA, which is less than an hour from me. Go Zippo!

I hope that the "Cramer Curse" does not come back to haunt $D and $SO, which he took a bullish stance on. $D's pending pipeline has Cramer excited. He also is behind Yahoo. Not surprising with the Alibaba IPO coming soon. No word from Cramer on Zippo, however.

Futures appear bright enough for shades today.

Retail anyone? Is $JCP really "back?" I bought some shares of $HNNMY some time back and so far, so good. I am shying away from $JCP.

Where is Jon Corzine and does he use a Zippo lighter when he enjoys a Swisher Sweet?

    Have a great day everyone.

  • Wall Street Breakfast: CVS Renames Itself Following Last Tobacco Sales [View article]
    RIQ,

Vlad seems to play the game better than most. I wonder why other leaders don't see through the smoke screen? "Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain."

Interesting how quickly Russia-related stocks rebound on the news/any news.

Hope all is well north of the border.

    Take care.

Good Morning to all WSB readers.

$RSX up almost 4% pre-market on cease fire news. Could be the start of a big move upwards?
European Commission may want to take a "wait and see" approach to new sanctions.

$BP back in the news as $HAL settles Gulf issues. Judge Barbier has yet to rule on "gross negligence" case. Not sure which way this one goes, but the LA judge has the ball in his court, so to speak. Administrator of compensation payments being accused of "conflict of interest." As a $BP investor, it is nice knowing that the company operates in over 80 countries. US operations a part of the whole BP picture, IMO.

Where is Jon Corzine and will he be scalping his World Cup Russia tickets?

    Have a great day everyone.

  • Nike wins battle for Kevin Durant [View news story]
Players on the HS football team I coach are wearing UA cleats 2 to 1 over Nike or Adidas.
The shift from UA clothing to footwear is happening and this is why I have been long UA for years.

  • Adidas: Time To Buy This Unloved And Undervalued Stock [View article]
A quick check on ADIAS turned up this: (August 4, 2014)

Berenberg Bank downgrades Adidas (OTCQX:ADDYY) to a Sell rating.
The analyst cut is in response to a profit warning from Adidas last week due in part to its exposure to Russia.
Berenberg also notes the superior brand positioning of Nike in key markets.

Just wondering what your thoughts are about this downgrade?

  • Altria And Lorillard Are 2 Top Picks For Income Investors [View article]
Took some heat for adding $MO to one portfolio some time back. It has been a winner. Up 15.41% since purchase. Not too shabby.
Looking to add more shares over the years as $MO is a dividend-keeper IMO.

  • Rising Power Of ISIS, Concern For BP And Exxon [View article]
Lots of speculation on a very fluid situation in Iraq.

BP has operations in over 80 countries. Iraq is but one.

Long BP and not expecting the share price to drop due the situation in Iraq. (I, too, can speculate)
