  • Retirement Strategy: The Oil Crash Could Be A Dividend Growth Investor's Best Friend Of The Decade [View article]
I love the fact that it's a dividend aristocrat, I love the fact that it has a big yield with a low payout ratio, and I love that the share price is dropping. This seems like exactly what I want, BUT the thing holding me back is the fact that the profitability of this company (and any other oil company) depends on something which is in my eyes arbitrary: the price of oil. I see people commenting that the price of oil will soon return back to 'normal'. Who determines what 'normal' is? What if $30 a barrel is the new normal? Will XOM be able to cover its dividend?

Gold is even worse: who knows what the correct price for gold is? It's a 'greater fools' game. And on top of that gold will never pay a dividend. But that's off-topic.

  • My 3 Loyal Sons: How A Wacky Idea Inspired My Sons To Invest In Stocks [View article]
I really enjoyed reading the article. You just gave them a big advantage in life by making them financially literate at a younger age. I think it's also important to show them the fun in investing, like receiving dividends without having to work for it and observing the compounding effect.

  • Cabinet: Greek banks to stay shut for six days; capital controls placed [View news story]
There is a big difference in mentality between the Icelandic and the Greeks. I don't want to disrespect the Greeks but I don't see the same kind of turnaround happening in Greece.

  • Turkey gets rattled following election results [View news story]
For me it's rather good news than bad news that Erdogan doesn't keep all the power, he was doing anything that he wanted like an old-school tszar. It won't be bad to have some balance. Might initiate a position in Turkey if it drops really badly.

Jeez what's with the hate WSDB... if you disagree with the author's opinion than that's fine, you can give some arguments in the comments to open a potentially interesting discussion, but to be snarky/trolling like that is rather childish... It seems like you have an issue. If you don't like the author's articles then don't read 'em.

Swapping my PSEC for PNNT today, I was tired of the lower quality mgnt by PSEC, I guess quality will always win in the long run. Except when valuations are stretched but it doesn't seem the case for PNNT.

  • Prospect Capital's Results For Fiscal Q3 2015 - My Assessment [View article]
Selling my PSEC today and swapping for a higher quality BDC... I didn't want to sell low but frankly I don't see why PSEC is worth holding, should've done better due diligence before buying.
Continued NAV declines, dividend was cut, all while the management profits. Where is PSEC going to be in 2 years?
