Sold 1000 $UVXY at $13.90. Meant to sell the other 1000 at $14.00, but missed the chance. Holding for now.

    • jcllier3: When did it get to $13.90?

    • neobliviscar: Had to be up for a London-Dubai phone call. Had the second sell in at $14 and would have been taken out, but I cancelled it. Dumb of me.

    • neobliviscar: Time of first sell was 7:06:36 ?.... looks like I'm going to lose on the second lot. So much for the bottle of 1972 Armagnac.

    • jcllier3: VIX up 1.5%, UVXY goes down 1.5%?

    • neobliviscar: Ask Perkins or others. Like a Swiss clock, I understand how this one works, but don't keep track of all the moving parts. I dumped the other

    • neobliviscar: 1000 at $13.44. So net of $130+ on what should have been a net $690 (post comm.). G'ah. Should have let the $14 get taken out...

    • Perkins Cove: jcllier, the VIX and its derivatives are not directly connected, as futures are involved. Discrepencies are common short term, ie daily.

    • Perkins Cove: Over longer time the connection is very dependable, except for decay. And that is also dependable.

    • jcllier3: Thanks PC. I'd love to be the person that shorted this at $600 about a year ago.

    • Perkins Cove: Example, while the VIX is holding steady at about 13.22-14.00, the $UVXY is dropping from contango. Others may give a more technical answer.
