  • Is Bankruptcy The Best Solution For AMR? [View article]
Many variables like you said GDP growth etc will effect the company AND ALL COMPANIES...I agree that AMR has their work cut out for them next year. I like most Advisors am an optimist, the glass IS half full. In addition to having a positive outlook there is other known data that help AMR for example since 1928 the market has been negative only 3 times in an election year...last election being the most brutal for investors.

    Other recent great news:
Short interest on AMR decreased from last month by a large percentage
The fleet and grounds union have reached a tentative deal to be voted on in the near future.

There is no liquidity crisis in the near to medium term. To say that with close to 5 billion in cash and cash equivalents is misleading. If Liquidity concerns were the case the short term maturities would be trading below 50 cents on the dollar. The 2012 unsecured bonds are trading closer to par and some are at par (yes, 2012).

PS I was not referring to you as the "loud" analyst, A Morningstar analyst is trying to make a name for himself by making Merideth type statements (Municipal bond collapse call) about AMR. Today he says they will succumb to bankruptcy. All he is doing is destroying shareholder value with fear and panic statements. He reminds me of the commercials that predict the end of the markets via a webpage. Not to be taken seriously.

Don't be mad that most investors read sell side the end of the day, that is where the money is.

Don't forget that the CEO doesn't care about the millions of dollars of AMR common stock that he owns. The media is getting dangerously close to class action lawsuit territory with these "MAY" happen stories. A few pilots retire and all of a sudden AMR is front page news. Not to mention the loud analyst making these waves doesn't even work at a major research house. - I do not own AMR and do not intend to buy any in the next 72 hours...just fed up with the news lately
