  • Time To Avoid U.S. Equities [View article]
All the charts show the start of a classic head and shoulders.
I have hedged all my U.S holdings with covered calls.
    Ask
1,Are interest rates going up or down?
2.Is the population getting older or younger?
3.Will Governments cut spending or continue to spend?
4.Public Service Employees have very generous retirement Benefits that must be paid, are Property Taxes going up or down?
5.Does the Federal Government have the gonads to introduce aggressive programs such as a Consumption Tax to start paying down the Debt?
Reality, when Rates return to Historic Averages of 6 to 8% the U.S will default on its obligations, the rush will be to gold from paper.
    Germany 1936 all over again.

Not true, anyone with a $100 k and over $4,000 a month in Pensions, and No Debt can live just fine.
A Mortgage free House can represent a lot of potential equity.
Asset Allocation should look at the whole picture, High Net worth retirees can live off Bond Income.
    We don't live forever.

  • Top 10 Pick: Buy Berkshire Hathaway [View article]
BRK.B is all about Buffet, an old man getting older with a history of Cancer.
He will die one day, the Buffet influence gone, this stock could lose a lot of value real quick.
I'll stick to MDY, safe boring ETF that has out performed Buffet over the long term, and pays a Dividend.

  • The Coming Oil Supply Gap [View article]
the question is, how much of the supply will be available, don't forget, the bulk of the supply lies in regions that hate Americans, that would cut off supply to hurt the U.S, Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, the list goes on, unreliable sources of supply, which comes back to Canada.
Huge Oil reserves, 20% of the world's fresh water, if the globe is warming, Kansas becomes a dust bowl, Canada gets more arable land.
Best Banking system in the world,No Obama Care but Universal Health Care,Gun Control, buy the loonie,
U.S Debt is the real crisis, not Europe.

  • Canadian Housing: It Actually Is Different This Time [View article]
Many ,if not most, home buyers in TO are stretched to the limit, they are 2% points or one job loss away from losing their ability to pay their mortgage debt.
We sold, put a lot of cash in the bank, totally debt free,as a Graduate Economist the future is easy to see.
Immigrants coming in are in many cases dependant upon our Social Safety Nets, they are going into Government Housing.
An ageing population will mean a lot of houses on the market, a small group of young buyers who cannot afford to pay these outrageous prices will force prices down.
The rush to the exit will start, people will take whatever they can get,the Buyers will be in the drivers seat, but higher rates will keep this pool very small.
Big cities are getting more dangerous, smaller towns with Health Care and 55 plus communities will benefit.

  • This Nation Has The Highest Individual Net Worth And Its Stock Market Offers 5.2% Current Yield [View article]
Australia is growing directly as a result of Asia's demand for commodities and the housing bubble in OZ is rampant, the high home costs in Canada are basically confined to two cities.
I have visited Australia, it is far from any major country, Canada can ship goods by land down to the tip of South America,Australia it all goes by sea or air.
The currency is high due to their high rates but not too long ago it was $0.49 not $1.02, you could lose half of your investment if the Aussie Dollar tanks, again.

  • A Recession Signal Flashes Red [View article]
The U.S has yet to adress its' fiscal crisis, the government is playing politics, and at some point, the bills will have to be paid.
The printing presses will be cranked up again, the supply of Government I.O.U's will flood the market, and at some point, rates must rise.
Higher rates, the U.S cannot pay its' bills, and the only reason the greenback has not fallen off the cliff is that there is no real alternative place for people to put their money.
Corporations and Private Savings are at astronomic levels, no one is spending, the pile of I.O.U's are getting higher.
War will break out in the Middle East, oil will hit $200 a barrel, commodity currencies will register sharp gains,Euro will not last.
Small town Real Estate, no debt, 25% Gold, Australian and Canadian Dollars, Nestle's JNJ, PFE and CN
(20% stocks for dividends and growth)

  • Profit From Obamacare Implementation With Healthcare REITs [View article]
Universal Health Care will not work in the U.S, the whole system and size of the country are against it.
Large, very poor minorities with horrible health ,massive obesity, graying population, and a refusal to raise taxes to pay for any changes.
Massive lawsuits, for profit mentality, this is a no starter.
Canadians will wait for joint replacement.Americans want it done NOW.
Consumption Tax, the SAT(Save America Tax) is coming, only way they can crawl out of the debt hole that has been created, that is after they are down graded and default on their debt.
    Buy Gold.
