  • Keystone pipeline decision delayed again, likely until after November elections [View news story]
Canada has started to build pipeline to the East and West coasts and when the dithering States finally realises they need this oil, too bad, so sad, China and Europe are buying it and the States can continue funding overseas terrorism.
Oil money is buying a lot of votes and Obama continues to disappoint, unable to make decisions, unable to fulfill promises, the typical Politician,do nothing then you can not be accused by anyone.
    Teflon President.

  • Inflation Is Rearing Its Ugly Head [View article]
It is called an Economic Cycle for a reason, and when you are in the gutter there is only one way to go.
When Interest Rates are at this level, there is only one way to go.
Inflation has never been gone, just look at your Grocery Bills, how much it costs you to fill up your car, what you pay now for Property Taxes etc etc etc.
Rates have been artificially manipulated because the U.S is BROKE,the Debt is astronomic, more and more Tax Dollars are needed just to service the interest payments, and the Unfunded Liabilities just take your breath away.

One day I will say,I told you so, an environmental disaster will happen.
We think we know the risks, just ask BP, know how to handle them like Chernoble and Three Mile Island.
Risk and Rewards are easily understood but what are we risking for what reward.??
The risk of eating contaminated meat are worth is, as long as you are not the one eating it.
How can they handle the risks of fracking when they do not even know what they are??

  • The Day I Sold Everything [View article]
There are so many conflicting opinions on this market but the fundamental facts are that stocks are trading at too high a P.E and that the ridiculously low interest rates will end and they will start to climb.
When in doubt, sit it out, wait for clarity then make decisions based upon your investment profile.
I am always confused by people who have a great deal of money buying stocks, why bother, why risk to make more when you already have enough???
Most people were happiest when they were renting a place, had one pair of jeans, and just enough money to buy some beer.

I have Post Grad in Economics,am 70 so have seen a lot,and my Wife keeps reminding me I have been predicting a major return of Inflation, housing collapse, and 10% rates for several years.

  • Junk bonds make another run at sub-5% [View news story]
The Fed can not afford to raise rates, the U.S would be driven to Default, all Government Benefits that are indexed would be increased resulting in exponential debt Growth,so the presses will keep printing and the game of Musical Chairs will keep happening until the music stops.
The time bomb is all the unfunded Government Obligations like medicare and Federal Pensions?
No Debt, if you have No Debt you can weather any storm.

U.S is currently benefiting from flight to safety, eventually the debt problem will hurt the currency.

  • Maybe You Shouldn't Pay Off Your Mortgage [View article]
Canadians do not deduct Mortgage Interest and most Mortgages have the rates reset after five years unlike the U.S where the rates are fixed for 30.
We can deduct contributions to our own Pension Plans, plus we can contribute up to $5500 annually into a 401K clone
We pay off our Mortgage ASAP,make our deductible contributions to our Pension Plans, put money into our 401K ,and one day we have Mortgage Free Home, a strong Pension asset base, our Government pensions of $31,000 per couple annually, No Health Care payments
Forced savings but we aren't bag boys or girls at Krogers

Warren is old, Charlie is older, it will take a huge haircut the day one or both get really sick , remember how much it lost when Buffet was diagnosed with cancer??
The stupidity of Berkshire is that the only way to make money is to sell it.

  • Balancing BlackBerry Part II: Flexing Muscles [View article]
BBRY is a typical Tech company that had technology move beyond it,nothing new, that is the nature of the industry.
    Canadian Protectionist Government??
Sweden allowed Saab and Volvo to be sold, the U.S bankrolled all its' auto companies with billions of pay outs, so please do not jump on Canada when the U.S has a much more aggressive protectionist policy, just look at lumber.
Apple is the current darling, twenty years from now some company starting in a garage in China may replace it???
Keystone may probably never get built, and that will be good for Canada,Big Oil has lots of lobbyists in Washington.
