  • The Year Ahead: 2015 [View article]
The main question for QE is to whether or not the Fed is using actual data to support their actions or manipulating data to support their actions?
A significant increase in rates would cause a catastrophic increase in the Debt payments, a major hit to the U.S Economy, a strengthening $ that would encourage Imports and hurt exports, and huge pressures to raise taxes to compensate for increased interest charges.
The U.S is on a path to introduce a Consumption Tax, as has the rest of the world.
Corporate Taxes are driving companies overseas and causing them to hold the monies offshore, the Government will be forced to lower Corporate Taxes and the Consumption Tax will be introduced to compensate for lost Tax revenues.
What effect will this have on the U.S economy????
This scenario has already played out in all major developed countries, why do you think their corporate tax rate is so much lower???
Prudent Money is sitting this dance out until the music starts to get played??

  • 5 Myths About SeaDrill That Could Cost You Real Money [View article]
Nomura’s Christyan Malek and team explain why they cut their rating on Seadrill (SDRL) to Reduce from Neutral:

    Kommersant via Getty Images

We forecast ultra-deepwater day rates will fall to USD 350k/day in 2015-18 (consensus is broadly in the range of USD 400k-450k/day), and this helps drive a 29/18/30% reduction in 2014/15/16 EPS estimates. Against this backdrop, our analysis reveals a funding gap of USD 2.0bn in 2015 that incorporates a 50% cut in dividend. Options available to Seadrill to help de-risk that include asset divestments and/or issuance of new equity/debt. However, this may be a challenge given the deteriorating industry outlook for deepwater drilling. Moreover, if these options are not viable, Seadrill may choose to cut its dividend completely (providing an additional USD 1bn). Although, that would still leave a funding gap of USD 1bn.
