  • Silver Wheaton (SLW +0.9%) also is halted on news that Chile fined Barrick Gold (ABX) and stopped construction on the Pascua-Lama mine. In addition to being a key growth asset for ABX, Pascua-Lama significantly increases SLW's long-term growth profile, Briefing.com says; SLW's 25% share of the estimated average annual silver production for the project's first full five years is 9M oz. [View news story]
Still need patience. No buy, no sell. No buy because silver is probably got some dip left in it. and No sell since in case I'm wrong, you'll still have your shares in tact.

Don't see them any closer to locking in On-Line gambling. So what's gonna send them up 1%, their 300mil non-paying kids?? Bold indeed.

  • Alcoa (AA) fills in more of the details on the 460K metric tons of smelting capacity it wants to remove, saying it will postpone construction of a potline at its Baie-Comeau smelter in Quebec and prepare for the upgrade by investing $100M during the next three years, as well as permanently shutting the plant’s two Soderberg potlines. AA says related charges will remove $0.11-$0.13 from EPS in 2013. [View news story]
Diversification may be AAs only hope.

  • Impact On Alcoa From $1,863 Aluminum And Production Cuts [View article]
I agree with you when you say AA management is good. They have cut the fat and trimmed away whatever overhead could be spared. The fact that AA is cyclical is critical in whether or not one intends to buy AA or not. The economy sucks right now and looks like it may continue for some time yet. Then if the economy corrects and starts making income again, AA has to contend with China's ACH and who knows where that battle will take us. Everything in America right now is imported from China.

  • Bear Of The Day: Silver Wheaton [View article]
These paragraphs are a bit redundant - "Silver Wheaton is not a mining company, but streams precious metals. That means it enters agreements where it has the right to purchase all or part of the gold or silver production from mines around the world." and "The payment is up front, which means its costs are mainly fixed. It doesn't actually do the exploration or have to deal with employee issues like union contracts. It looks for politically stable regions." I wonder how many articles written on SLW since 2004 has included these two paragraphs?

SLW is a strong buy at these prices. How did you come up with the research statement "Silver Wheaton is a Zacks Rank #5 (Strong Sell) and that's exactly what investors have been doing: selling." ??

  • Bullish On Silver Wheaton After Earnings Report [View article]
$3.90oz delivered seems about standard for what SLWs been paying for most contracts. I wonder though why ABX would sell any portion of their silver considering what is being said on the Streets.

Barrick Gold's full year 2012 operating cash flow was a record $5.44 billion. Mr. Jamie Sokalsky, Barrick Gold CEO, said recently, "The first step towards increasing returns to shareholders is to have the underlying business running well. For 2012, we delivered record annual operating cash flow, and the second-highest adjusted earnings per share in Barrick's history."

  • Will Silver And Silver Wheaton Keep Falling? [View article]
If you believe that silver will continue to drop then you should probably believe that SLW will also continue to drop. But I agree with some of the comments that ask why gamble on $1-2 when most investors believe that silver will bounce back with a vengeance when all this manipulation is exposed and begins to taper off? PMs are destined to return to a value asset. Again I site this article http://seekingalpha.co...

  • Will Silver And Silver Wheaton Keep Falling? [View article]
An interesting article about the cost of silver says the cost to produce silver is between $24.98 and $26.54. Personally I think it's much lower than this, but this is what the article says.

His conclusion was "And IF silver drops below this $26 level (though I don't think it will happen), then buy as much physical silver as you can, because then it may get REALLY interesting when the silver industry starts buying COMEX contracts and asking for delivery because miners are not producing enough (or are not willing to sell at current prices)."

The point is that although PMs have a much lower spot price in this current market, try go to a refiner and buy silver today. They either don't have it or won't sell it unless you want to pay a premium spot plus $3 and they will always be glad to buy it at spot minus $2

  • Will Silver And Silver Wheaton Keep Falling? [View article]
Lior - i agree with all those reasons you sited. However, I do believe that PMs will eventually rebound because there just seems to be no way this administration will continue with its apparent stabilization of the economy. The US dollar is seeing what appears to be strength today, but then are also some that are saying the US fiats have been challenged as approaching the danger zone in remaining as the world reserve currency. Granted, this is only one groups opinion, but nevertheless, it seems warranted in the light of the current world financial situation. http://bit.ly/18VBCnE There is a lot of interesting reading on this subject and as the pendulum swings, as the US prints more & more fiats and as continued discoveries on the truth of what's actually going on out there, there will continue to be more about which to write.

  • Aluminum demand is strong despite record-high inventories and will be further buoyed in coming years by increased usage in the automotive and aerospace industries, a top Alcoa (AA +0.6%) and other industry players tell CRU's World Aluminum congress. Alcoa says it is investing $575M in two new U.S. automotive sheet production facilities to meet North American demand that should quadruple by 2015. [View news story]
Yes but if all or a lot of the parts are outsourced, then aluminum parts will be made from materials other than from AA.

  • Zynga: A Safer Bet Now? [View article]
I think Nick said it all in his opening sentence, "Zynga (ZNGA), as the world's leading provider of social game services," There is minimal money in the social games, In order to put ZNGA on the map, they will have to conquer the online gambling games. Otherwise, ZNGA will remain a $3.30 stock.

  • Zynga: This Is Why I Am Bullish [View article]
I agree that $2.09 would have been a good buy in position, but do you really think that at $3.37 this is a good buy in time? IMHO Between $3.09 and $3.90 this is where ZNGA is going to park its value for at least the next year or two. You could choose to work those spreads day-trading, but with the taxes and fees associated with each purchase & sale, is it really worth it?
