Good catch. Maybe calling it after "Thursdays close" was a prediction?

  • It's a sea of red for gold mining stocks as gold drops to $1,100 [View news story]
If gold currently costs about $1,000 to mine, how could it go much lower than that? Wouldn't the miners just go and buy it rather than spend so much time & effort to mine it?

  • Regional gaming stocks on watch as estimates raised [View news story]
It'll be interesting to see where it all goes. There appears to be lots of proverbial sticks in the fire at this point. Lack of gaming traffic, need for infrastructure improvements, pursuits of on-line gambling just to mention a few.

  • Premarket Gainers / Losers as of 9:10 am [View news story]
Most seem to be looking for the floor, but still don't know how many levels there remain to drop. Some have said silver to $10 others say gold to $700. But one thing is for certain, SLW and other streamers are certain to follow.

  • The Tax Man Cometh For Silver Wheaton [View article]
Somehow, I don't see the Canadian government concerned about the repercussions of the SLW tax issue. I think that they see potential big $$$ so they're going after it. If innocent people get stung in the process then, in their minds, so be it.

  • Silver Wheaton: Where Is The Silver Lining? [View article]
If you don't see PMs increasing in value in the next few months, then why should SLW increase in its value? Look at the headwinds tax filings on the horizon, defending attorney's fees and maybe even basically shutting down normal operations for the foreseeable future to focus on their tax status. Look, I don't mean to kick 'em when they're down, but facing reality, I don't currently see any light at the end of the SLW tunnel.

  • Silver Wheaton: Where Is The Silver Lining? [View article]
This definitely seems like a good time to short SLW while this whole mess is sorted out. Shorting doesn't mean that you're taking sides, you're just protecting your interests while they regroup. As soon as the floor surfaces, say maybe around $10-$11. Then simply re-buy and join in the profits. With the strategies and streaming abilities & reputation of SLW, they'll be here forever.

  • Franco-Nevada sees future mine deals affected by Canada tax move [View news story]
The governments bite themselves in the long-term foot by forcing their hand in this one. Eventually, companies move to a tax-safe location and the governments are left with nothing but a vacant lot where a productive company once operated.

  • The Tax Man Cometh For Silver Wheaton [View article]
Taxes are what they are and it's critical that unless there's a legal loophole for tax leniency, it's either 1) pay the lawyers to avoid the taxes for a time period then pay your tax, or 2) just pay the tax now and use your lawyers to train lobbyists to fight for future lower taxes or 3) move.

  • The Taxman Is Coming After Silver Wheaton [View article]
It will be interesting what defenses SLW will use to protect itself. I believe that US companies went through similar tax adjustments when they were using off-shore banking practices in the Cayman islands as well as other places which the US claimed the tax strategies being used were illegal. The governments has all the money in the world. SLW has limited finances and may make a settlement to avoid paying a higher legal defense team. This will be interesting.
