  • It's Time To Consider Buying Zynga And What's Next For The Stock Market [View article]
But KC - it's the past that got them where they are today! The past is what ZNGA is all about. Poor decisions and a poor track record. Now things appear to be changing for the good, but are they so rooted in the past that they find it difficult to cross over those well built hurdles? Time will tell. It appears that Z is making some good moves. We'll see how NaturalMotion turns out. For now, This is really all they got.

@ Stone - but kids 3-11 don't spend money on games. They mean nothing adding value to Z's portfolio. And even the kids DAU & MAU numbers have been dropping.

If you're buying ZNGA now, then you're buying ZNGA potential only and not ZNGA value.

It seems to me that ZNGA valuation is based solely on unproven potential at this point.

@ Ayush - Z had a lot of cash. They just spent 1/3 of it on NaturalMotion. If NaturalMotion fails or does not produce as expected, Z will have big problems. Personally at this point, I don't see that happening and it appears that Z has now made a good buy. Also I think Z will continue with the layoffs and will continue to replace those workers with the purchase other gamers like NaturalMotion. IMHO

  • There Are A Lot Of Positives For Zynga [View article]
I also believe that people that are investing in ZNGA right now are actually investing in Mattrix and NaturalMotion, which appear to have become the new ZNGA. Those two elements have changed the game plan and direction of Z. They appear motivated and once again may be developing the confidence to start making better decisions and ready to assume their regained role in the gaming marketplace.

@ tftf - and their (ZNGA) history doesn't support it. Under Pincus there were a lot of issues that appear to have been addressed by Mattrix, but only time will tell there. The history of NaturalMotion appears good but at only $12mil a month I can't believe that this is what Mattrix bought. He must be hoping for potential in a direction he's headed. And rather than attempt to create that potential in house, Z brings on a new team that's already headed in that direction. So if NaturalMotion comes through as expected, I would agree that the future of ZYNGA is much brighter and would begin supporting a positive position, but I am more supporting Mattrix and NaturalMotion not the old nuts and bolts of ZYNGA which also appears to be under repair.

I agree with your position of maybe deciding to go long ZNGA but I'd do a whole lot of research on NaturalMotion before committing.

I agree. With DAU's and MAUs down this shows someone is not impressed with what's been offered.

Nice to see stocks advance in value, but can't figure out what ZYNGA has done to deserve this kind of increase. NaturalMotion is still unproven in my books. Good potential, but still unproven. Overpriced? we'll see! Obviously the best move Z has made in a very long time.

With DAUs, MAUs, & MUUs all dropping substantially confirmed by Mattrick who says, "What we are seeing is less users, less revenue, but the company is booking more often with its current users," He also makes an interesting statement, "The outside interest in NaturalMotion's core technology suggests that Zynga looked for an asset and team that could boost many games in its portfolio, not just another one-hit wonder like OMGPOP. And the valuation further demonstrates that Zynga is willing to pay up for the possibility to expand beyond its core markets." This seems to be a positive move since ZNGA now appears to be moving beyond creating an in-house game here and there to peak their players interests, they've made a move to replace their own into purchasing a team that has a proven track record of getting & keeping the kids attention. This now may be the direction that puts Z back on the winning track. Good research.

  • Zynga Isn't Playing Around Anymore [View article]
This is Pretty much old news by now. What I want to read about is more on NaturalMotion and then develop conversations on their ability to dig ZNGA out of their doldrums and reduce some of their headwinds. It is obvious that the market likes this move, but after the hype of the purchase, what are the nuts and bolts of the acquisition? Talk about what the ZNGA boardroom went through when finding NaturalMotion & then deciding to secure the purchase. Discuss also the negotiations that took place on price, each others obligations etc. I want to read more than the surface info about CSR Racing & clumsy ninja. NaturalMotion is a British company owned by Former Oxford University student Torsten Reil who is 41 years old and that they employ about 260 workers and make about $12m a month is also old news. What were the terms of the deal? How much did Mr. Reil personally net? what was their financial position before the purchase? How long their games have been around and what does NaturalMotion have on the drawing books, talk about their potential as a change in direction for ZNGA or is this a boost in the same direction etc. What was the process that took place to discover NaturalMotion? Was NaturalMotion an app that got a lot of usage before they were discovered? We all know that Zynga is still trying to figure out how to make its products work on mobile. Will this acquisition help with that transition? Hopefully someone will really do some digging and create a great article that explains everything.
