Z may go up in value if NaturalMotion CSR proves itself under fire. But if not, then Z will be a $2.50 stock again. For now, NaturalMotion may be all Z has to put on the table. All you Z supporters . . . what else does Z have? No internal talent, losing employee & management support and poor gaming decisions. Talk about headwinds!

I don't intend to say that NaturalMotion was a bad buy because I know very little about them, but on the surface, at $12mil a day, I hope there's more tucked away in their talents to support the purchase at that price. If NaturalMotion has more up their sleeves, which I hope they do, then Don may have made a good move. On this one, time will tell. Still I see no valid reason for Z's jump in value based on past or recent performance.

Actually, this was a typo, should have only said about 1/3 their cash flow spent on NaturalMotion.

  • Zynga Soars On Full Year Guidance, But Where's The Value? [View article]
I would only consider a long position with Z in the mid to low $2's, but based on the gaming business decisions, company acquisitions and internal turnover issues made by Z's former employees, I would seriously question any long position above $3.50. Between $2.50 & $3.50 it's day trading for me! Right now, it looks like a wonderful time to short!

I guess my continued objection to owning ZNGA stock is that they've done little to nothing to earn this inflated value but make questionable decisions. This move to buy CSR NaturalMotion cost ZNGA about 1/2 their cash. On a company that generates only $12mil per month? Hopefully they have a bunch of ideas that haven't come to fruition yet and hope to make them even more $$$ in the near future, but then again, if they did and it was guaranteed, then why did they sell out to ZNGA?
George, I think you wrote another factual, straight forward, common sense article. Good job.

inkyx - I do understand your position that you probably purchased ZYNGA stock when they were in the $2.80's or better, but I also have a question for you. Would you buy ZNGA stock today at their current $4.40 value?

With this acquisition of NaturalMotion, CSR Racing is generating maybe a little more than $12m per month or a little more than $1/2mil per day. Does NaturalMotion have the talent it takes to help ZNGA turn the corner to profits? Time will tell. Apparently NaturalMotion does have additional gaming talent that comes with this package. But at this rate, if income remains the same, it'll take Z about 3+ years to break even for the $527m it paid for NaturalMotion. This does seem to be a good move allowing Z to lay off about 300+ more employees. This is an interesting move on Z's part, but it took about 1/2 of their working capital to do it.

ZYNGA up 23% ? They're only up 4.09% to $3.56 on my charts gaining a little over $.04 from $3.51. at 23% they'd be valued up $.80 to over $4.30

Spending $391mil on a company (plus Z stock) depletes about 1/2 your cash flow for only a max. $12mil per month return can be challenging to explain to your stock holders. o well, another ZNGA bad choice.

According to articles I read, they've been making about $12mil per month which isn't too shabby, http://bit.ly/1a4Gpqr but to pay $527mil, ($391 in cash) ZNGA gotta be buying more than this one app. Hopefully they also purchased a contract to perform. At that rate Z will take 3-5 years to break even.
