  • Impact On Alcoa From $1,863 Aluminum And Production Cuts [View article]
I agree with you when you say AA management is good. They have cut the fat and trimmed away whatever overhead could be spared. The fact that AA is cyclical is critical in whether or not one intends to buy AA or not. The economy sucks right now and looks like it may continue for some time yet. Then if the economy corrects and starts making income again, AA has to contend with China's ACH and who knows where that battle will take us. Everything in America right now is imported from China.

  • Alcoa's Cost Of Aluminum Production Spurs 'Strategic Review' [View article]
I'm surprised that AA can find any more fat to cut in their search for profits. IMHO as soon as this economy gets its act together, AA will do just fine. Until then, AA is an $8.50 stock value company.

  • Is Alcoa's Bounce Sustainable With Aluminum Price Headwinds And S&P's Revised Outlook? [View article]
I couldn't wait, AA hit $8.64 on Friday and I dumped what I had. Personally, I think those headwinds at $8.70 are too much for me. AA has no where to go until this economy turns around.

  • Is Alcoa's Bounce Sustainable With Aluminum Price Headwinds And S&P's Revised Outlook? [View article]
I think this was a lot of good information with some sensible conclusions. And I agree with you when you say that AA is a well run company. All the cost savings I can imagine have been exercised, cut backs and trimmings trimmed. I can't imagine what AA might do to cut any more. Price seems to have stabilized up and down between $8-$8.50. Aside from the Jan-Feb peak of over $9, It seems that the real headwinds kick in at around $8.60.-$8.70 Can you help identify those headwinds? The strengths seem to kick in at around $8.00 and have been holding. My thinking is to dump stocks around the$8.60-$8.70 then re buy at their dips of $8. But sooner or later AA will penetrate these headwinds and they're off to the races. Any idea when this will happen? What headwind signs do you see out there? China seems to be the only identifiable headwind. What's your opinion?

  • Alcoa Should Be A Hot Stock In 2014 [View article]
Gumby - IMHO, I think it's because you make 50 posts in an attempt to make one comment. Rambling can be an art in speaking . . . if you are a filibuster.

  • Alcoa Posts Encouraging Results [View article]
AA will be fine. They have great management and have trimmed off all they can. They will hover for awhile but they will hang in there and I think a lot of their investors are willing to hang in there too. A lot of people pulling for you AA!

  • This Company Is Still Better Than Its Industry [View article]
I too am a member of this company for a number of years now, but holding on is challenging. I can't imagine that AA can't improve its position but of all the stocks out there, AA's stagnation cannot be blamed on management. The issue lies solely with this stinking economy.

  • Alcoa - Wait For Green Shoots Before Considering A Long Position [View article]
I will wait for some green shoots, thereby missing the first stage of the rally, before considering a long position.

    Well put!

  • Alcoa Outlook After Q1 Earnings: Aluminum Weakness Still Overshadows Downstream Success [View article]
eWhisperer in his article wrote, " A move below $8 would give us a technical target for a move just below $7 with $8 as the new resistance" suggesting a new AA floor. Wonder how could two articles find such different persuasions?

  • The Whispers For Alcoa Are More About Debt Than Earnings This Quarter [View article]
eW - "This had led to expectations that Moody's will downgrade Alcoa's debt to junk status, making the company the only non-investment grade company included in the Dow Jones average and that, in turn, is expected to eventually lead to the stock's removal from the index." . . . . O really!!

"A move below $8 would give us a technical target for a move just below $7 with $8 as the new resistance" Is this your forecast?
