Being Overextended to some may not mean being over extended to another especially when the others have more knowledge of why the overextension exists. It may better be called an investment plan.

  • Alcoa - Transformation To Aerospace Continues After Acquiring Firth Rixson [View article]
It's too bad for me, I panicked at the articles offered when AA returned to $8.95. You can all thank me for the return to profits. As soon as I sold, AA shot up to where it is today, almost double my sale price.

I would think that the purpose of any article would be to show by evidence whether the readers should buy or sell and here's the reason why! Short of that, why write the article?

@ trendwatcher - good point. Your comment/analysis on price v. value can be summed up in what has been happening to ZYNGA. Their price went North of $5 while their value continues to hover at $3.50 or below and they show nothing in their future reports but hype and an advertised confidence.

  • Alcoa: Still Worth Keeping In Your Portfolio [View article]
If you're betting on AA to succeed, then you're betting on the economy to succeed. AA is cyclical. The one thing that AA has over other cyclical companies is that AA is well run, well organized, has more potential because of management and the basic need for their product. What isn't known is what else can aluminum do that is unknown today? Will it be advances in automotive? airlines industry? construction industry? computer industry? who knows? But once additional uses for aluminum become necessary AA will be first in line to capitalize on it. They have it, and the economy creates a use for it!

  • 4 Reasons Why Investors Should Sell Out Of Alcoa Shares Now [View article]
AA is a well running machine under capable hands. They've fine tuned their operation and continue to find places to cut waste. All AA needed was to have the economy turn around in order to realize their potential. Apparently the economy is on the way to recovery and AA will take full advantage of it. If the economy continues to improve, then so will AA. When we see the economy begin to falter then it's time to jump ship, but until then AA has a lot of room to grow. It's been down way too long. Long AA.

  • Alcoa - On The Verge Of Trading Above $10 Following Goldman's Bullish Notes [View article]
AA deserves only the best. AA is well run and well organized. It is the stinking economy that has created all these AA problems.

  • Can Alcoa Outpace The Industry? [View article]
Alpha - your last paragraph stated: "At the current aluminum price, more than 30% of the companies are not making profits. However, Alcoa is amongst the companies that are posting decent margins relative to their peers even in this low pricing environment. Therefore, I would recommend buying the stock."

Although I do believe that AA is one of the best run companies in their industry, KK has slimmed and trimmed their overhead in every way possible and has done a great job doing it which, in part, allows for better profits that their counterparts, but based on this you recommend buying the stock? and has rallied little more than $1.50 for the last year and a half with no significant changes in the economy? it seems the only way to make any money with AA is by day trading, if you're any good at that!

  • A Few Reasons Behind My Decision To Remain Slightly Bullish On Shares Of Alcoa [View article]
Heather - I enjoyed your article but wanted to ask, how can you say you are slightly bullish on AA yet don't plan on taking a position on them? It seems from your profile that you enjoy commenting or maybe even investing in timber or natural resources. If I might pry, where do you place your investments? Don't you agree that AA is a cyclical company that will always have this economy as a natural enemy until it (the economy) improves? To what do you attribute this weeks spike in stock value?
