  • Rising Costs Call Into Question Efficacy Of Chinese Component Assembly [View article]
9 hours!? You are joking, right. I would be shocked if it took 10 minutes to assemble an i-device. Probably more like <5. Seriously.

    "Next step is Skype"

That is correct. Free wifi for the net and skype... the beginning of the great convergence device. Replaces everything when you are mobile.

  • Leopard Delay, iPhone Hype - Apple Knows What It Is Doing [View article]
"I just wonder what Steve's vision will be for the Apple ecosystem AFTER iPhone?!"

You have raised the most interesting point, one that I believe is often missed or undersetimated, namely this:

For the next several years, maybe one or two decades, there is no "after iPhone". The iPhone and other competitive, similar devices is THE story.

What do I mean? ...the story of the computer business for many years to come will be the emergence of the new PC: the "pocket computer". One day soon it will be inconceivable that you would not carry a computer in your pocket.

Your "new PC" will of course be your phone, too. Also your PDA, your iPod, your camera, your wristwatch and your kitchen sink.

The reason this story will be THE story for several years will be the growing computational power that will fit into a device the size of the iPhone. Each time the power ratchets up a notch, more and more other devices, including some "regular" computers, will be rendered obsolete. Just as young people now don't know the time when when you needed to carry a watch, one day soon digital cameras will only be for pros and PDAs will be extinct.

And you were "there" the day the revolution began in January 2007.
