  • Z10 returns are in-line with those of other high-end smartphones, BlackBerry (BBRY -7.8%) insists, addressing a report that returns were now exceeding sales at some top retailers. Meanwhile, Pac Crest's James Faucette, who has been bearish on BlackBerry for some time, estimates today the weekly sell-through rates for the Z10 at U.S. carriers are only around 60K units. He forecasts just 2.9M BB10 shipments for the May quarter, with half that total consisting of channel fill. [View news story]
Blackberry has claimed the news was "absolutely false."

Detwiler, which also issued a downbeat note on Z10 demand last month, adds the pace of returns in some cases is exceeding the pace of sales, and that users are complaining about the Z10's UI, Maps app, and app availability. Separately, Amazon has cut its subsidized Z10 price to $99. (AT&T launch[View news story]
every new gadgets has a learning curve. i think the news was a bit exaggerated and the source (Detwiler Fenton & Co) came from a desperate company and its website is down. totally unreliable.

  • Should Microsoft Make A Smartphone? [View article]
Some people may argue that a short 18 month support cycle has nothing to do with a product's success. Not in Microsoft's lingo, look at short-lived products like Windows ME, Vista, WP 7 which were quickly replaced by another major release. This is a common Microsoft's strategy to rekindle the interest of the public. After all they got the cash to market it.

Blackberry has seen the worst for the past two years (they are partly to blame). Now with good products like BES10, QNX, BB10, Q10, it will reverse the decline.

It's NO longer about the US of A. Why is Samsung selling very well? It's an Asian company who understands the Asian market.
