  • Timing Is Everything, And The Time For Coronado Biosciences Is Now [View article]
Thank you atrickpay, that was what I was referring to... Sorry to be slow to reply. Perhaps binary was not the best word, but I do believe this will be a huge fork in the road. Hoping for the best. Good luck to all.

f5alcon, are you concerned that the decision will be delayed due to government shutdown? Seems to me you could make the right call on the options but lose everything because decision does not come in time due to shutdown. Or did you buy Novembers? If I am using options right now for October PDUFAs I would have to be pretty anxious about it I think.

  • The Existential Threat To Cisco [View article]
    Thanks Cyrus
I do not see this as an existential threat to Cisco, but they may find that growing revenue / maintaining margins becomes more problematic. In some sense analogous to Intel in that they are and will be a dominant player but the cash cow is shrinking and being replaced by a lower ticket / lower margin item. I know others will think this is ludicrous/blasphemous. Good luck to all.

IF the concept proves out, share dilution, partnership, or buy out are all reasonably options. Does not really matter, you will make a truckload of money. The binary October event is what to be concerned with. Crossing fingers.

Thank you very much for the SDN breakdown. I had CSCO on the radar for some time, but have not invested specifically because of the looming shadow of SDN.
Any idea who the big winners, if any, might be going forward as SDN is implemented?

Amazing to read people bashing this based on aesthetic grounds, especially someone who is ostensibly a doctor. The New England Journal of Medicine piece on the Takeda product certainly is not all that positive - ok efficacy, definite side effects. IF (always a big if) the Coronado TSO performs as indicated so far, it will blow everything else on the market out of the water. I have zero doubt that Crohn's sufferers would be thrilled to move to a higher efficacy low/no side effect solution. All bio is risky, but I think the risk is highly assymetrical in this case... Short term downside 65%, short term upside 150%? And if the short term upside comes, wait til you see what it is in a year. If you are in the mood to roll the dice, this one is intriguing.

  • Troll Hunting [View instapost]
Nicely thought out, and as usual entertainingly presented. Let's face it, the majority of trolls likely live in their parents basement, thus have few options for entertainment other than flailing on others who have achieved more. When you read their attempt at scathing comments it is useful to visualize them hunched over their keyboards, pecking away. They are to be pitied as much as castigated. (That being said, when you are the subject of their attacks it is still vexing.)

Congratulations Chris. If I was an accredited investor I would be thrilled to have you investing on behalf of my family. Alas, I can merely attempt to grab your coattails as you fly by. Thanks for all of your great work here on SA.

  • Just How Reasonable Is A Free Amazon Smartphone? Apple Provides The Answer [View article]
A phone that was "free" based on buying a certain amount of digital content might work pretty well, at least in terms of getting people to switch from say an Apple environment to Amazon. Amazon has certainly shown their willingness to use loss leaders to acquire market share.
The idea is somewhat akin to Amazon Prime. Amazon likely loses considerable amount of money on shipping with this program, but they net back a gigantic number of transactions, presumably offsetting the shipping costs.
Not sure if any of it is sustainable, that is another question. But it can certainly be attractive to consumers.

Actually, I said I would send him a dime, as a 2.7% increase in his Happy Meal would cost him a dime. I will send you one too. Email me your address.

I mean really, can anyone argue that boosting the price of a fast food meal by a dime to make the lives of 100s of thousands of marginalized Americans a LOT better is not a good idea? How selfish have we become?
