    If you follow the energy markets closely you will see that winds intermittency is creating a lot of problems for the electrical grid.
    Add that to the potential for the 30% federal tax credit to go away and the reduction or removal of the production tax credit which are the only reasons wind is a good investment at this time and you have a recipy for disaster in that segment.
    In addition, activism growing in the fight against wind projects world wide, could further complicate things.

    So if the sun is not shining and the wind is not blowing are they shutting down during those periods? Because conventional power has to be used in during these periods that would be the only way they could claim 100% renewable.
    Apple can also claim that their return on investment for the data centers will come from tax subsidies for the renewable energy portion.

    You will always need distribution and utilities are quickly changing their model in order to adapt to challenges brought by integrating renewables.
    Their costs on upgrades to fit renewables and new distribution will be shared by ratepayers so they have limited exposure here.
    The major challenge is behind the meter renewables as this affects their KWH billed.

    A lot of the trades in major metropolitan areas are controlled by boards that appointed by governors and are primarily union.
    They set up rules and regulations that make it nearly impossible for someone to enter the trades like hours of education, on the job training hours required during apprenticeship to get a journeyman's or a master license and working ratios such as 3 journeyman to one apprentice.
    In some of the trades, the hours of OJT are greater than needed to get a commercial pilots license.
    These regulations are creating a shortage of trades people in large metropolitan areas and in some regions.
    Talk to your plumber, HVAC guy or carpenter and they will concurr.

    One thing that is neglected in the discussion is the better gas mileages and the decrease in miles driven as well as lower consumption for heating as natural gas has been displacing oil.
    Almost every old car that comes off the road is replaced with one that has gas mileage improvement of better then 50%
