  • Prospect Capital: Good Times For Yield Hunters? [View article]
I used to be a strong advocate of PSEC..but it's so called "elitist" management has put stockholders in a precarious situation. The very fact that PSEC would even think of issuing more shares below NAV makes me think they really don't have have stockholder's interests in mind. Yes, they own shares personally as well, but have you noticed that they always buy just before a sharp decline...which makes me think that they park their $ in their high interest as opposed to a CD. Their true personal gain is in the collection/retainment/... of the high fees they charge to cleverly craft their deals...I don't know, I'd like to buy back in and be able to sleep at night, but something keeps nagging me that I'm playing a fool's game with PSEC. Maybe something positive from Nov's report will help alleviate my doubts. Best wishes to all you longs, I know it hasn't been easy watching your basis go down. Enjoy the divs in the meantime, and hope PSEC doesn't slash the div rate instead of lowering their management fees

A question for all the PSEC defenders (I used to be one). The material, numbers and lack of any real response from management to investors, has indeed put fear into a lot of investors...many who can't afford to play the game "oh, it's not that bad..come on now". So here's the question...Is there ,perhaps, a reason for PSEC to want the stock price to be so low, well below NIV. I can't come up with one , maybe someone else could enlighten me

Forward guidance will be key IMO. I think the stock has lagged after Aug high due to anticipating the lower current sales....and confirmation of FDA approvals
Still, All dips (99-100) have been bought immediately ....THAT's your best entry IMO and exactly what I'm doing. Just my 2 cents :-)

Saddly, I totally agree. I might buy back in when the stock gets to the 8-9 level.

Guess I'm one of the "herd"...but REALLY. I sold because they are increasing their net income, increasing their management fees expoentially...yet the NII, NAV and stock price is going down...AND the threat of reducing the dividend. Some investors even favor it (GEEEEZ) Does this sound shareholder friendly to you???? I took my rose colored glasses off and sold ...so I'm no longer part of the "herd"

I was a long term holder and had been supportive of management ...until it became clear that they are sacrificing shareholder's interests . When their net income goes up and management fees go up up up , but NII, NAV and stock value all go down , plus the suggestion of a dividend cut...THAT's why most of us sold...NOT herd mentallity

Love it!!! My woman's intuition has been a great guide and keeps me out of trouble........when I listen to it. :>) I need to say though, that women don't have the corner on intuition...men actually have it in themselves as well. They just need to learn to trust it and that it IS a VALID source of information. Keeps you grounded and releases you from the "herd" mentality of the "information" age...which you know by now changes with the weather!!!

After all the discussion, I think the real question simply (KISS principle) comes down to.... How is the PSEC team appropriating its income. PSEC IS making money NOW..40% more than last year , yet the dividend (gets you hooked) has been consistently under covered. The rate has been great and why I also was willing to look the other way as they skimmed the cream for themselves. But now we're into critical territory, (which seems artifically induced because they do make $ .... keep the last qtr in perspective) and it's apparent that shareholders do not hold much credibility with the company. Their only concern is to keep the stock price above Nav so they can use us as an ATM machine to keep the machine rolling. They talk like politicians when we "squirm". This time PSEC has lost credibility with the shareholders. So take your chances, buy PSEC, get the price back to NAV so PSEC can knock it down from "withdrawls" (selling more stock) and make more $ yet keep underfunding the dividend. I think PSEC has undermined the power of the shareholder...without us, no stock price equal to nav, no easy way to get funds. Guess they'll have to go to other BCD co's to get loans for their business. Those of us that have bailed are keeping a close watch on PSEC

Oh my..isn't that the truth. Maybe after I finish updating my home, I think I should travel...THEN come back and take a finance course, a tax course, a computer course...then again after working so hard for the last 50 yrs, it all sounds so overwhelming...

So, I want to THANK YOU for sharing your knowledge, time and effort. It's priceless for the average shareholder like myself.
