  • AMD: The New Puma Chip As A Catalyst In Mobile [View article]
But clock speed isn't something you can just configure linearly.
Upping the clock speed will up the draw and heat in a non linear fashion.
So if you take small chip with a small gain and start making assumptions about how/if it would perform if it was running at 3ghz... then it's just a pretend chip. It might catch on fire.

intels chip's are narrow design that makes use of high freq, apples are wide making use of more being done per tic. If intel's core does better at a test I can't then normalize for clock frequency, since thats a major design choice.

Maybe I'm mistaken and you could elaborate on ur normalization process but it sounds like your trying to convert apples to oranges but getting a pretend orange.

don't think you can just normalize for frequency.

  • Intel's Broxton Die Size Revealed [View article]
Firstly, they have a product that is being sold and it has good performance and power usage. ~14 months ago they had nothing. They've established a promising product pipeline. That is a pretty big deal, though it doesn't mean they are going to win the war.

You're telling me you really don't see any change in the competitive landscape since before the medfield launch and now? I mean really? Maybe not time to shake in your boots if ur qualcom... but you'd be wise to be expecting a fight.

Secondly, ur arm being up over 1000% has nothing to do with how much progress intel has made. It really doesn't say anything about the future either.

If you can't see how intel has narrowed the gap in the last 14 months, and setup a product pipeline that could be competitive.. then what good are you? If they make this much progress in the next 14 months then the mobile world will be very different.
You have to atleast acknowledge the progress they have made or your just an arm fan boy.

  • Intel Really Doesn't Need An Apple Foundry Deal [View article]
You still seem to miss that intel views the other foundries as competition to squash. Everynode step about half the foundries drop out, in intels vision of the future there is only intel and samsung making chips.
