U.S. oil reserves are available if the rules and regulations and local opposition permit. There is the Baltimore Canyon of the East Coast, The Gulf off Florida, California coast, and New Mexico to be put into production. Newer discoveries in the east (New York, Pennslavania), and the Dakotas are ready when the red tape is cleared. The idea of the consumer cutting back and new sources are sand in the ocean differences in our energy needs as compared to the increased needs for Chinese and Indian consumers. Remember our government does not produce oil, it only acts as an obstacle to our energy wants and needs.

The answer is in increased domestic production of energy is in oil, gas, and nuclear production. We need laws and rules and regulations to dovetail into encouraging production not stopping or halting it. Congress need to look in a mirror for slowing and decreasing input in to our producing fields(Gulf of Mexico, West Coast) and non producing like off Eastern shore(Baltimore Canyon), New fields in Northeast, and Dakotas. New technology may be started but it will now replace oil, gas, and nuclear in our lifetimes.
