  • Marten Transport: Mispricing In The Industry Provides Strong Upside [View article]
Great article. I believe Marten is the only publicly traded temperature controlled TL company in the market now, as Frozen Food Express (FFE) was acquired last year by Duff Brothers Capital . Given the current market conditions and M&A activity, I woulodn't be surprised if Swift Transportation SWFT went after Marten to expand their reefer, Mexico and intermodal business.

  • Shares of Best Buy (BBY) move up 1.2% premarket with the progression of Richard Schulze's bid to take the firm private still a major focus of investors. Also in the mix is the profitable quarter (I, II) just turned in by Conn's on the back of its double-digit same store sales growth. Did Conn's push the right button by focusing on furniture over lower margin consumer electronics items? Just ask RadioShack (RSH), down 79% YTD. [View news story]
    I'm long RSH.

  • Patriot Coal: What A Short Squeeze Looks Like [View article]
Export coal has remained strong; the problem is domestic steam and met coal. I think this is just a play on warmer weather and buying into earnings. Listen to the railroads earnings calls to see if they're moving more export coal.

  • Virgin Mobile (VMED +0.1%) will begin offering the iPhone (AAPL) to its prepaid subscribers as soon as July 1, sources tell the WSJ. Virgin relies on Sprint's (S) network, and its purchases could help the latter make good on its $15.5B, 4-year iPhone purchase commitment without getting saddled with millions of unsold iPhones. Fellow prepaid carrier Leap Wireless (LEAP) recently struck an iPhone deal of its own.  [View news story]
This is how Sprint plans to sell $15 billion worth of iphones. Not a bad idea!

  • CSX: Low Payout Ratio, High Growth Prospects [View article]
I would buy CSX after Q1 earnings. Coal is a large portion of rev/margins for the railroads. With steam coal in a downward trend, i would wait to see how this affects Q1 earnings. I am long CSX and plan to buy more after Q1 earnings.

  • Good Time To Buy Norfolk Southern At 30% Below Price Targets [View article]
I would say NS has more room to fall $60-$63. The coal business accounts for more than a third of revs. Steam coal accounts for more than 70% of NS's coal business.
